Survival Of The Fittest

The economy of my country is nothing to write home about, the rate at which foods and services are increasing is extremely high and it's very painful because no one is doing anything about it.

Almost everyday, prices of goods are skyrocketing. It's as if it's every hour that the prices are increasing, I've bought some products in the morning then going back to the same place to buy the same product, the price had already changed, it was like I'm dreaming.

I was just wondering *who do us like this for Naija*, why is everything so difficult? People are just living as they see, they don't have hope for tomorrow let alone plan something tangible ahead for their future. Spending on the basic things of life is now very difficult.

There was a time I went to the market to restock my food stuff and provisions because I like buying in bulk, I couldn't believe the little things I've gotten with the money I took to the market.

I had to sit somewhere to make calculations first because I thought I've misplaced my money, I felt like crying because my needs haven't been meant with what I've gotten so I had to make another withdrawal for more money to continue my shopping.

*Settling bills nowadays now requires proper calculations, I sit down to write my needs before setting out to buy them, most times I struggle with prices, there hasn't been a price reduction at all but increments, this is painful.....who will help us?*

The cost of living in my new area is really high, a few months ago I had to relocate because of my new job, to get an affordable apartment almost wear me out, imagine agents calling outrageous amount because of a room self contain...250k, 350k, 450k..🤣🤣.

I struggled for a whole month before getting a manageable room self contained, which I rented for 185k in Ibadan, to furnish the room is now another headache because things are just too expensive.

For feeding, I love home made food unless on special occasion when I eat out. Buying ingredients for cooking nowadays is also alarming, cooking ordinary Rice with Stew now cost a lot.

After Church Service yesterday, I made a withdrawal of 5k with the expectation that I will be able to get a few ingredients like peppers, fish, veggies and plantains for my Sunday lunch because I have rice at home. *Ordinarily 5k nah my pocket money for a week before oooo🤔 but I wan use am cook lunch...Naija don spoil*🤔

*My first discouragement started from the pepper seller, the quantity of tomatoes and scotch bonnet was disheartening. Nothing like getting 200 naira pepper at the market again, small quantity of pepper now start from 500 naira. I bought the little I can afford, but the greatest shock of my life was when I got to the fish sellers, I picked the one like and I was shocked when the seller told me one Kote fish is 3,500 naira and the last price is 3k, I was short of words, I just dey look.*

*Though it's a big fish but I didn't expect the price, I thought with just 1500 - 1800naira I should be able to get just a fish then use the remaining money with me to get the other ingredients, but reverse is the case. I just made a u-turn, buy pepper, eggs with plenty of fruits and leave the market......d tin pain me ehhh*

Let's not talk about transport and clothing, everything is just expensive. But will things get better if I change my location? Absolutely Not!

Things are almost the same in all states of the federation, so there is no difference at all. The only thing that can make life easier is for the government to see into the economy and help with this inflation that's almost shocking the citizens. Because it's now becoming survival of the fittest!

Thanks for visiting my blog and happy celebration to all Muslim Hiver❤️
