I believe that we all have an innate calling to help others that are in a worse position than ourselves. I have given many hours to volunteering in animal shelters, local community efforts, sports clubs and raising funds for rescue groups who help Rotties (they are just my favourite doggies). But with the children in my home growing and me wanting to spend more and more time with them I have lost the time I used to spend helping out. So this leaves me in a bit of a pickle. However I have increased my earning power in my JOB.

So now I earn more money but have less of my precious time, after all you can always earn more money but you can never get your time back. This is something I never thought about in my younger years. Last year I suffered an injury which pretty much wiped out my whole summer, killed any activities I had planned with my family (we are very out doors people) such as surf holidays, hill walking, rock climbing, bmx racing etc. My youngest children are 8 and 10, these years are like gold to me. The kids are young enough to still want to spend time with us and not grumpy like they will be in just a few short years. We have an older son who just turned 18! He is a man now, although still in secondary school he is now fully responsible for his own actions. He doesn't want to go on camping holidays or things like that, his time now is devoted to gaming, training and chasing members of the opposite sex. It gives me great pride to watch him, after all we raised him, to see how he is a confident and kind young man really brings warmth to my heart.

I digress, back to the 1%. I want to spend as much time as possible with my family, I want to help others out. This leaves me with donation. How easy is that to do? Pretty easy, I took my net monthly wage decided it by 100 and now I donate at a minimum 1% of my take home pay to three charities. But how do you choose? How do you decide who you should help out? For me it was simple enough, Being a parent and knowing the priceless gift of healthy children means that my first 2 choices would be related to children. I also wanted to give something back to animals, we take so much from animals on this planet. We really leave very little for them, some we take everything from.

π±π₯ππΏπ₯ππΆοΈ____________________πΆοΈππ₯πΏππ₯π±

The three charities I donate to every month are

https://steemitimages.com/DQmf4nUcgmNnCwu9tarutUWx7GMr5TcUtGctbAMKkQcGoHz/image.png

Src: https://www.templestreet.ie/about/
1: Temple street foundation.

The Temple Street Foundation raises funds to enable Temple Street Children's University Hospital to continue to provide world class care to Ireland's sickest children. This service is amazing and it lets kids be kids, no matter what illness they are effected by. This also gives hard working parents much needed respite care so they can focus on themselves, even for just a weekend. Spending your every waking hour caring for a seriously ill child is backbreaking. Giving these parents just a small break can make a huge difference in everyone's life.

π±π₯ππΏπ₯ππΆοΈ____________________πΆοΈππ₯πΏππ₯π±

https://steemitimages.com/DQmPh8bHZFEftQRviUKTpjgG54AvSspyPoAYmrhGkjTae5y/image.png

SRC: http://edenfarmedanimalsanctuary.com
3: Eden farmed animal sanctuary.

Eden Farmed Animal Sanctuary, Ireland is a grassroots vegan sanctuary. It is run by one person on a voluntary, unpaid basis, with the help of volunteers and paid external services. It is not affiliated with any other organisation.

The primary function of Eden is to provide a home to its residents, most of whom have been rescued from animal agriculture. Eden is also affiliated with The Compassion Foundation of Ireland, a psychology practice that researches and promotes the non-violent philosophy of veganism, and incorporates veganism in its clinical programmes. Eden is also affiliated with Matildaβs Promise, Animal Rights and Vegan Education Centre. Go Vegan World, public educational campaign, is one aspect of the work of Matildaβs Promise. Other activities include publications, workshops, practical demonstrations and online educational courses.

π±π₯ππΏπ₯ππΆοΈ____________________πΆοΈππ₯πΏππ₯π±

The amount I donate every month is set, it is a direct debit from my account, I don't even have to think about it. For less that the cost of one night out a month I can help make a difference to the charities I support. Think about your own life, think about how you could at some stage throughout that life you could need a service that relies on public donations and volunteer workers.

In a world where not giving a fuck is the mantra why not go against the crowd and actually give a fuck about something! Most charities are crying out for donations of money, time or resources that cost you very little.

LIKE WHAT YOU SEE?

https://steemitimages.com/DQmWpisRXDF56mV3DgzzPUxb3R2ozseR48YVr2YKtwtrBcV/Upvote%20and%20follow%20resteem.gif
