I recognise myself a lot in your post. When it comes to debates, I always try my best to "chose my battles" carefully. I only enter into discussions that I expect to be constructive and mutually beneficial, otherwise I find it better to keep silent. And there is nothing wrong with that! Some "discussions" are about as fruitful as banging one's head on the wall. Silence is then clearly better.
