As a miner I have noticed the pay rate per device each day drop 50% since Friday. Each of my devices used to make over $2.00 in BTC per day mining. Now they are making under $.99. 

Can anyone explain this drop? Is it temporary? I know the reward for mining gets smaller as Bitcoin grows. But what will keep the miners working when bitcoin gets to low? I have always wondered. 

I am looking forward to your comments, hopefully someone smart can explain and earn themselves an upvote. :)
