**Bitcoin** has achieved an important milestone, as it reaches ***80 percent*** of its total supply. That means ***16.8 million*** bitcoins were mined. As per its protocol built by **Satoshi Nakamoto**, total bitcoin supply is of ***21 million*** only. 

According to the white paper released in 2008, it was discussed to keep limited amount of coins, which will eventually generate scarcity of cryotocurrency in the market, and apparently will raise its demand, that will make it more valuable.

Miners have been rewarded 12.5 BTC as per the protocol. Approximately after four years, the reward gets halved every 210,000 blocks. The average rate of mining blocks per day is 10 minutes. Almost 144 blocks are mined per day.

Looking at the demand of Bitcoin, there are discussions to increase 21 million capped supply. Recently, due regulatory beating in China and South Korea have affected the prices of bitcoin.
