There are many emotional, physical, social and psychological changes that come in adolescence. It is an unsettling stage of life in which young people usually experience the blues. <center></center> Young people feel strong sense of dismissal due to impractical family, social or academic expectations and ultimately it leads to extreme level of disappointment. They overreact when things don’t go good and blame that life is not fair. They feel confused and stressed. The situation becomes worse when they get conflicting response from society and even from their parents. The dilemma of today life is that teens are forced to learn more about the things both good and bad, which are not required. They are forcefully taught about threats of AIDS, even if they are not involved in sexual activities. It is parents’ duty to give teen the proper guidance about all the sudden physical and emotional changes which develop at this stage. When their mood upset, their daily life activities are disturbed. It starts serious mental disorder which is called adolescent depression. ### How to deal with adolescent depression: When teens are suffering from adolescent depression, it is necessary to do some steps which can avoid serious depression. Below are some suggestions that develop sense of acceptance in teens: * Making new friends and healthy relationships play very important role in teens’ self-respect and esteem. * Participating in social activities like job and sports keeps them busy and they focus on positive feelings or behaviors. * There are many organizations that offer support programs which develop additional interests in young depressed people. * When problems are difficult to handle alone, there must be trusted adult to listen and take care of them. But sometimes things don’t go smooth. Teens become much depressed despite all these efforts. There are lot of factor that contribute to depression. Research says that most of the depressed people have very high or very low specific brain chemicals. Family history also increase the risk of developing depression. Other factors include sudden unacceptable events like death, divorce, some side effects of medicines or negative thoughts. ### How to recognize adolescent depression: Adolescent depression in young people is increasing at threatening rate. According to recent survey, every one in five teens is suffering from depression. This has become a serious issue which needs to be properly addressed to avoid severe condition. <center></center> It is not easy to recognize depression as it has many forms. However there are some symptoms which indicate depression especially when they last for many weeks. These include poor performance, lack of motivation, and withdrawal from social life, agitation and suicidal thoughts. ### Suicide in teens: Sometimes teens are so much depressed that want to end their life. According to research, around 5,000 young people, having age 15 to 24, commit suicide.
