Parents have a line of authority by which they groom their children for the future and they expect the children to go by these authorities. They do so by regulating behavior so as to be able to groom their children into what they want to be like in future. And it's these regulations that affect the child's morality, self esteem, responsibility in the societies they live in as they grow up into adults.

Each parent would prefer bringing up their children using a parenting style that they feel is appropriate for their children. Here I look at the various parenting styles and how effective they are to children.

Authoritative parenting; 
Parents that use the authoritative parenting style are the ones that are strict on their children though they also allow their children to take part in decision making at home despite the strict rules imposed on them. For example a parent decides their children should not get out of home after school but rather stay indoors to the extent of even buying them indoor games, the child might show how uncomfortable that is, there by influencing the parent to allow them hangout on specific days within a specified time limit. This will make the children be responsible knowing we are out having fun but should be back home not beyond this time. This parenting style is the most effective as it makes children to grow up with a high self esteem, they easily take part in decision making, being responsible for even the smallest things, high degree of stewardship as well as a high degree of morality.

Authoritarian parenting;
Parents that use the authoritarian parenting style normally are strict on their children and they feel their strict rules are final, they can not be adjusted. The children are supposed to go by them and such parents always feel they are always right and so their children should not oppose them/what they say and tell them to do. For example if such a parent tells the children, they are not supposed to move out of home, it is final, the children must go by that, there is no space for making adjustments or decisions about that. Simply because they have to go by their parents' orders.
Children in such families in most cases grow up with a low self esteem, they are poor at making decisions just because they feel their decisions are not worthy being taken, such children do not easily open up as they are reserved in most cases though they shall have that degree of discipline in them.

Permissive parenting;
Permissive parents in most cases allow their children to do whatever they want to do only that they come in to guide incase they feel what the child is doing is wrong. Such a parent can allow their children to hang out with friends late, attending shows, etc but when it happens that this child is taking up fights, this is when the parent comes in to advise their children that fighting is not good and teach them self control. This example serves to explain how permissive parents bring up their children. 
Children of permissive parents in most cases easily open up, they are argumentative, have a high self esteem, they are also responsible though not that really like the children in authoritarian and authoritative styles.

Neglective parenting;
Parents that use this kind of parenting style also allow their children to do whatever they want like what the permissive parents do, though they do not come in when the children go wrong. Such parents  allow their children to do whatever they want whether good or bad, it does not matter to them. These parents in most cases show no responsibility for their children.
Such children end up being responsible of their own survival since the parents are not responsible to them as well. Children who are heading families either taking care of their young ones at home or they
 have formed up families, are mostly children from neglective parents. Children from such families also in most cases are abusive, aggressive, due to poor morality, they grow up without anyone guiding them on what is good and bad and so they end up with such a poor degree of morality.

For parents out there as well as the future parents, the advice for you is to use an effective and appropriate parenting style that you think will make your children to be responsible as well as have a high degree of stewardship.
No parent would wish bad for their children, every parent would wish the best for their children and this will only depend on the way you bring them up.
