Last night I watched the EXCELLENT and informative documentary 'Beware of Images' by director Sergio Toporek. It is an independently made documentary (funded by Kickstarter) about the control of art, media and use of propaganda over the centuries to control information and public behavior. The pace, the style, the imagery and animation used were excellent. And I mean, award winning excellent in every way. It connects the dots in a fascinating way to keep the viewer engaged. There are segments that are not appropriate for children. RATED MATURE. This will never be shown in commercial theaters or picked up by Netflix or win an academy award because it exposes the social engineering agendas of the big corporate conglomerates and the calculated control of information throughout history in general. It ends by showing how video games are funded by the military and used to successfully recruit young men into virtual war. Facebook is doing it's best to sabotage 'Beware of Images' Facebook page as I write this. The film is highly critical of Facebook. It is 2 hours and 40 minutes long so I recommend watching it at a time when you have a high level of mental energy or take breaks. It is broken into 14 chapters and you may want to take notes. The quote below is taken from the Kickstarter page. "BEWARE OF IMAGES is a feature-length, animated documentary about the history of visual representation. The movie explores the intricate relationship between the technology, regulation and social effects of media. From cave paintings to video games, BEWARE OF IMAGES will take its audience on a fascinating journey that is insightful, harrowing and hopeful. The film is divided in 14 chapters, which deal with a variety of interconnected subjects such as: the history of visual language and its application to propaganda, gender and cultural stereotypes, media violence, the emergence of broadcasting technologies, the rise of modern advertising, the commercial takeover of the public airwaves, the consolidation and cultural consequences of media conglomerates, the effects of intellectual property on innovation and creativity, the information economy, Net Neutrality and the future of the open Internet."
