This is my post for #freewriters 2700 prompt *morsel* hosted by @mariannewest My sisters and I have hired a realtor to sell our mother's property in Alabama. As the deed says, it is "1.07 acres, more or less". 80% is in Blount County, which is a dry county, and 20% is in St Clair County, which is not a dry county. It is a funny shaped piece of land that is bigger on the ends and skinny in the middle. You could make 2 pieces of property from it. There is a well, septic and electric, for sure on one end, and one sister says the other end also has everything except the breaker box. It is not zoned commercial, but I am told it could be changed because there are businesses and a church that butt up to the property. Mom tried to sell it years ago. She wanted 30 for it, so I figured since that was 20 years ago, we should ask 40. One sister said 50, and the other said 30. That did not go over well with any of the realtors I spoke with. I had it narrowed down to two realtors but was unsure of which I wanted. The one I liked when talking to her had not gotten back to me so I was leaning towards the other one, she had told me to let her know the next day who I was going with. She was very pushy and from that time until 1 the next day she had called 7 times and sent 5 e-mails and one message on the answering machine. I have 2 half sisters who are both visiting, so that morning, I went to yard sales with them but was home by 1 O'clock. On the answering machine was a nasty message about how she guessed I was not going to use her, so she deleted everything she researched on the place. Since I had not heard from the one I liked, I was going to tell her we would hire her, but if she is so busy, she could not wait until the end of the day to leave that message, then she was not the one we wanted. Later that day, the realtor I wanted contacted me, so it all worked out. The reason I did not want the other realtor was because we had someone who wanted to buy the land, but when I said 40, she said good luck with that price and said no thank you. She told me that if we wanted to get a realtor, she had a friend who would sell it for us. I looked her friend up, and as it turned out, her friend is a realtor in the same office as the realtor I was talking to, so I think they would want it to sell at a price their friend wanted to pay. The realtor we hired got us to list it at a more realistic number even though she thought it was on the high side for the place. We listed it for 25, and we do not want to take one *morsel* less. We will see if this holds true. **photo is mine**
