<h2><strong><a href="http://steemitdashboard">Steemit Post Dashboard</a></strong> helps you keep tabs on that favorite post you expect will be going viral at any moment.</h2> <p><img src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/6iZ_lrpwiyOAQj4JqQFqia7DR2EhcQd9dvtVaTyqB5kqqaU_JexVgT0qJ-RQOm3esMR4cEKhHOnyExjYrbep4bGAY_nmCENAgP2T4kZ4VEX2Mm5fd7d7IYTbVnk35e_nBUiW0aYk340AiU9n3G6AwyGvwF_el1eYKE7H9GrfuP93E9XLyl-wG_oxv1aHDd3SrRgjYBM-ZAViKpp7nh8knG_6OSDGNKiSpk7vavPAC3CgSUWGHqwdoKAK_gUQh4daDD9LpPVQJB39s2IxVPGJzeH63qw0C1boWjiQQYjb9QCs2STPEc019D6Reprmcud69C2H5aEEDB-ktr0w4st-kLdWLt6TwL6KHbVT-YiZXfXOn8JAc2ckQc6MX4bPfHrba311KQF5KTct141ZjIz8KmUffXo29oir_vfHp_ic2Na6i_FIYUsR-mKk8uvge5rIKr-WUajaTzrS4ei38xUaB1wgs0OGnUQuj0CRx_9GGoeJQ8sIsdUNLvkWO3ubGzrkCUpW9V6Mq7o9vzIqKxMQ798uUl9yFM8fFNFNpchjECdO7iqqliEe6nJxdzFlIZ7cNsNYBcGXOLDbBJnvyvez73NGl6vJ6fqb=w258-h186-no" /></p><br /> <p>Hi Steemit,</p> <p>@mynameisbrian here. I have been doing a lot of thinking about Steemit since I had my first bit of success with <a href="https://steemit.com/steemit/@mynameisbrian/steemit-pond-a-real-time-visualization-of-steemit-activity-with-a-twist"><em><strong>Steemit Pond</strong></em></a>. One thing I learned during the 12 or so hours that followed its initial posting was that it is slightly difficult to track exactly what is going on with a post in real-time given the current Steemit user-interface. So rather than immediately plowing along with further <a href="https://steemit.com/steemit/@mynameisbrian/steemit-pond-a-real-time-visualization-of-steemit-activity-with-a-twist"><em><strong>Steemit Pond</strong></em></a> development, I decided to take a small detour and code a <em>proof of concept</em> for a <a href="http://steemitdashboard.com" rel="noopener"><em><strong>Steemit Post Dashboard</strong></em></a> that is able to give you real-time metrics on a post.</p> <p>As a proof of concept the current version is lacking in its breadth of functionality, usability, and in the general appeal of the user interface. I am posting today because I don’t wish to delve deep into the details of another project without first seeing if there is demand for such a tool amongst Steemit users. Please allow me to describe the current state of the proof of concept.</p> <p>Special thanks to @etherdesign since I’m using some screenshots from <a href="https://steemit.com/steemit/@etherdesign/new-website-design-for-steemit">their post </a>last night.</p> <h2><strong>About the Steemit Post Dashboard</strong></h2> <p>To view a post’s dashboard simply copy the post URL and submit it.</p> <p><img src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/0cat8z5ap1kDxUwK86bWhW3RGa1kbrBgGw7jcWcHj3JsVM4vjTJKqwVvitYaeQYfyjZGSm3hp3-9pEt8uY6Wa8vjsJAAel0n3BPRQkNG62bp0vGA5rWwZyXQufUkrjaqIFGX_twaf9Qts39PD3A68Wh06XHBh1lP8tUyoMfhEcJXYtDIqv7rmTdq96Z2aJKXnJbN2CbWI8AAPDLoEdVlb2GgnemNt-WgGhlsYVENmxwKPGcuFy40nav5NMEYJoJ8TgI2edAB0fa9Ojpsv2bRFPKqRy_J0msR1_tsydaXudDS7436d6EmlFPwfg6VPPkSelXPRp3SzlNtdCUzDGnERd0O-QRFaDvk5tHH-maZJpnW6LO7R0I9wMVGbgRizl50RevYyW2ZCbB-V_qm-Wyyt1SQr08aj1U6hBh3OqQEtAkY15q8DcXo5brldtEmh7uEYVrLGPH01wYZlhgyfbB1LDrK4S2CtmKut84KYISVY25Ej7mOazkQ6VumHXH1aVivRs28lVu380B4EDawyKntzV1jlXdajgyNeT1x2W6dCDwUENLS6CH8Jn26jn3Xm6Kyw43CxQPpZv2OZ8j9zI6Ys3ctfbWPgUYZ=w500-h316-no" /></p> <p><em>I know… I know…</em></p> <p>This is not a very elegant solution for providing the user with access to their post metrics, but as I said this is just a proof of concept. Ideally the user will supply their username and be presented with a listing of all their posts from which they can select a single post to view its metrics. This setup would be bookmarkable so that the user can bookmark any post directly and view it without entering any additional information.</p> <p><img src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/C--GF9yYAhZZA5B5IE27lM7UUpRU5HCyFn58uLbzduHTcHopu6u0zytWq_AQ8qh5EFMefA7IxTEsVuCZ1kCI68FKPhBQ08v-eaVdUYPs1uJT2Gvbg7JJ_Mx6-XaNlqmZ5d_3C4Pesp8pw-GZ4wsgD0OmX_gAH2HuWIdcaWlBIUvlT7D-quutMMwYqxIHrXsnrovVCnAHN1tF_QtHgz_2817geiV1Asd8w9hHleKHY2iWB2J7Ql-GyX-6922XGJH_v3Kz-hsBIxEbJDKEfI6NcEjk62RapH-pCDdCNQaZtb5iNu_P2W5Ty1ynJGcB5qLwBK2YJgiNQ0s9tWPYDATSGuNLf3ycXSrYhQIBx4pT88EqGUOePEdcvVWRMcNqyV_L5LPDdt4kGRRpOzNR3DMLNt5WBclBjkFoc4HpS5w2UDlzR_PvN_8KTsla37Ff7dKKA65bAn3O7UTZ0QDacTu_RZt8AM9aUarWabK5aqafH9LW7wr7BiUmI1etZ5RgJHToXNbxawbaINfh8M8HWGmdD5zzQmF_1gX1MoDevOtmeF6vfI6_kx9aSXx6SnOlq1TU8D2SJsrbX_PoKIeBPWgard_eissF7nVy=w533-h199-no" /></p> <p>Once a valid post URL has been entered the dashboard is displayed. Currently new data is fetched at a fixed rate every 2 minutes; however, if developed further I would like to change this so that the user is able to customize the interval. For example, perhaps you are viewing the page with your mobile data plan and want to minimize data usage. </p> <h3><strong>Quick Stats</strong></h3> <p>When you view a post the first thing you will see at the top of the dashboard is a <em>Quick Stats Panel</em>. This panel will include several graphical modules that give the user a snapshot of key metrics related to the post. At the moment the <em>Quick Stats Panel</em> has only 3 individual modules: <em><strong>1)</strong></em><em> Pending Payout</em>; <em><strong>2)</strong></em><em> Time Stats</em>; and <em><strong>3)</strong></em><em> Total Number of Comments</em> made directly on the post. If developed further the dashboard should include a <em>Total Payout</em> module and a <em>Vote Count</em> module at a minimum. Additionally, the user should have the ability to customize goals for the post. For example, the existing <em>Pending Payment Gauge</em> goes from 0 to $10,000. This should be customizable as each post is unique.</p> <p><img src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/Gkdwhy5LRdopsYMSU3qAiwjXHmXhudg1IPAoOohVwgU9gTJA_MhUPXjZvrhwefOmNoV-PyT8oWyKJBFAwNQFtUFjUJNiRNO00AnhUhtCuG6AkpqxCoEmX_hQpgonmabLhhgVX-I__v1kbz1A3IwjkBu3El9kARemVqD1rO-09ZBFy2yrCTOMhxWAIYRobURhth1h2xP9CulAoSDL2lZU5kvC32W-xXgGGDH8lwJqMrsi5W4gjUuYPCJySHMk95N4PlDn6EFC-qcL3LeBfdrZ6ReIMKV1RdJLkDE6djjGN8DizcqrDiwHZs8r3fEEyeeYd9s2S8wcqyQwTbV7b_F0-mJVvdluIufW8N6YGHByBQ9OpviUY7pa0OptMPsIU7QBHkRr8pKrlbs8lk9ED3kiQBC_eIOyyJuC3_oq-kxXIkJ7UQhMSiGPX4QDWssSUWBDV6j-KH0N43WUNtP5EXV0tbMeWdxK_OP9MKP2XTigVdIYfFS1ywOHZ2YFnwLV9RRc7rsUXk4z45vRPplROWnzzHRK-2WkdOlLRjkEvHU7ABGkZzV_b6oBC0sx1aDlspptrdYq5weubYPh15xxkUqKYHSTgjVgxlsz=w750-h267-no" /></p><br/> <h3><strong>Latest Comments</strong></h3> <p>The second panel on the dashboard is the <em>Latest Comments Panel</em>. Currently, this panel simply displays the 10 most recent comments made directly on the post so that the user can quickly link to the comment on Steemit and reply. I envision the <em>Latest Comments Panel</em> displaying nested comments and allowing the user to flag comments they have responded to or don’t wish to see. Another possibility is providing filters so that the user can choose how they would like to sort and display comments.</p> <p><img src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/UFSk7dfjuklEHVUnjBwY6qYwLwvBWofYP0kLIMNKRNVQr11a-o5H5ARAelMyyaRebwUUSU6ZtbQsP-Hj0G1TnKgf62bWY-qhl9xRC1zIBXF_F-qANvcuinfAOT95JBccB_08_G3-_ptiVFwnOQRujcWa6Z0ch9ifvCrghTmDBXW3XCaPUUJZoGjTUMoSTuJTLKm9iC_umta4bD4dCrqcuYt-JZ30WoNXQVMbNB-nzd5uvtrFldUPpy2BODCJSqavIC7ksLp0ic2xXwB20SYe98zLfUQ8AFMKk1R4Z5sWs4wAr-EZbeMX30xziAwqR-LKD-yqjDT_6VtS9YIXljp_rI4DrRMFMD0c1Fr1tLO8PVO4QyFbBgqJsOD34UUvb9BZbBucgeGSBLQIYIG9EWkBLfcwKVOlMKto6JaNX7pxZiXST-Uhp0JI7AbxsovOpc1c2yXLuGkx__V0sA07BxOKRy_jWgP6JKf4X1JHQTODAB22n5rMBDcEbYLYCbksVJvolMMxEoullreoK4-lLhZ4nuwY2JObvmvIuoZnwVE5u4ET2XVAoRg1PbixV53x1g8NPhzGXPLlBlrjOt7pG0PG1yxFE_0dgG_e=w750-h303-no" /></p> <h3><strong>Voter Visualization</strong></h3> <p>The third panel displayed on the dashboard is the <em>Voter Visualization Panel</em> which displays a cloud of all post voters. The current logic is a bit flawed and further development will need to fix this. Regardless the concept is the same - provide a picture of which voters on a post carry the most weight. To some this may seem like a way of trying to <em>‘catch a whale’</em>, but for me personally this is powerful information to have at my disposal. I have only been a Steemit member for a couple of weeks, but since joining I have become extremely passionate about learning as much as I can about Steem and the Steemit ecosystem. Whales, and even above average users, are likely to possess this knowledge and therefore I have been trying to fish out their blog feeds. The <em>Voter Visualization Panel</em> helps assist with this.</p> <p><img src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/ldq8gxhc-r2Pj8YPopGHMmf7SyCfm0Uqut6xT_Hw9bfdbHZh0jN5BWmQW8UuHRgc_XrqqkRYcpciT1HgR2kWoTNO4jnmzZV69apHocpqlDGBZCplaQfd0woHyA1ojzZi3eX1orncpNzXlP8gRxIe8UDi-QXpX_faN_vyVTLJTMWE9QU619pez8nhlpkvDME6gVnFz5Ja-z0Z25NGQ6XNreyuWuFMMNv8KIGNXQV45w-FnX0Q3n8-DtvM_XVw37hpdBP6sLWIPP8hnUNJUwpbZphQ0i7dmOmG73zaC8yF6hRec0OxQf9K9PfBpoITJfFQFF2LqhC-IBGBzGWRU6SHAI9TDEW498YkKFwk7Uiqmtn-sqQJl3wytLUaBoTZ2bLJEuP3I2VEV6NtlLj5FdUts667QX1_EyTfwFnAh-MrHSl9UypexBySHsQh38bHYtRGrKyTjbmuNRClRGFYTslwDcQoPdaTmysnmHTVUVCDnuZOTbCM6HR-3Bx8hWFk8knNGsC03VlY6AsBBgxCfpvL0wViEGhvxEigcsnuCkd-5U1HOjX47Elxh82mhHPryBOH3-K-dYQNXrH2st2QFU6vrxOj1MW1oL1A=w750-h296-no" /></p> <h2><strong>Final Thoughts</strong></h2> <p>A full fledged version of this concept will contain many additional features not described here. I’m hoping to get some solid feedback regarding this idea in the comments so I can decide whether I should attempt to make the <a href="http://steemitdashboard.com" rel="noopener"><em><strong>Steemit Post Dashboard</strong></em></a> a reality or allow it to vanish into the ether…</p> <p><em>Or would it vanish into the ether classic?</em> I guess both.</p> <p><strong>Thanks Steemit in advance for your input.</strong></p> <h3><a href="http://steemitdashboard.com" rel="noopener">View the Steemit Post Dashboard Proof of Concept </a></h3> <p><br /></p>
