0.000 HBDAncestral Coded Beliefs - Do they really hold any meaning?
When I was a child I always used to get a lot of instructions from my elders. Don't do this, Don't do that and sometimes I used to wonder what could possibly be the reason. On questioning them most of the time the answers were it brings bad luck and I believed it and that's how my conditioning was happening. Fear of God, Fear of doing things or not doing things, Fear of Punishment. There was no reasoning. The reasons were only these like It's against religion, God gets angry or it brings Bad Luck. I am sure a lot of you may have also experienced this, specially in the Indian tradition. Many Do's and Many Don'ts, like do not cut nails after 07:00 P.M., do not sweep the floor at home at night, do not wear black on auspicious days, If we do not pray God will punish us. If glass breaks it will bring bad luck, If Milk spills while boiling it brings good luck, A cat crosses your path while leaving the house it will bring a bad day, and so many such more. Till a certain time in my life I almost believed all of these, but with maturity I used to wonder what possibly could go wrong if I do these things or do not do these things. I realized that there was nothing good or nothing bad happening, and almost all of them were pointless in the way they are put across.
[Source](https://pixabay.com/photos/fantasy-portrait-root-moss-forest-2824500/)
These beliefs did have some meaning to why they were introduced but over a period of time their meanings have completely changed. For e.g. cutting nails at night was forbidden because in the very olden times when there was no electricity if one would do it at night, the person would probably harm the fingers. Or sweeping floor at night which is now considered bad, this was there again for the same reason that there used to be no electricity in the olden times and sweeping at night possibly you could lose some of your valuable. I feel our Ancestors were much more meaningful and they introduced many such things not with the intention of spreading some blind beliefs but with some purpose, which is now completely lost and these beliefs are twisted over a period of time with some completely gibberish concepts. In my family all my elders have been coded with these beliefs but when I question them they will say, do not argue just follow it. Which feels senseless to me. A lot of people do understand these differences of what to follow and what not to, but then there are many who are coded so strongly with these beliefs that they keep passing on these messages to the future generations. If you try making them understand also they would strongly oppose to your thoughts.
[Source](https://pixabay.com/illustrations/cat-halloween-emoji-scary-962538/)
Ancestral coding what I say or Superstitious beliefs is happening all through out our lives and we are just going round and round in circles following the same rut. These beliefs cloud us up and making us follow some baseless traditions, which does nothing but grips us in Fear. If there is any sort of fear in our periphery, we cannot grow spiritually. God never punishes us for anything. It is all about energy. What energy we spread out in the universe and in our lives through our thoughts, actions and words the same energy bounces back to us. From the spiritual growth perspective these beliefs can be harmful as they will not allow us to expand and increase our awareness and consciousness. So what are your Ancestral coded beliefs, and have you every challenged them? Do put a thought over it and I bet you will be surprised as to how your belief that you have been following since ages is challenged and shattered. ***Thank you for visiting my blog.***

GIF Courtesy @enginewitty ππ

My other blogs of Interest

"Holi Celebrations - Festival of Colors"

"21st March - Celebrating International Forest Day π³π²π±βΌπ"

"Meeting my Mom after one year"

"Sublime Sunday # "Weekend spent at the Farmhouse""

Member of

Supporting People Who Help Make The World A Better Place @ecoTrain
