Many are often confused by these 2 platforms. Apart from the complexities involved in understanding what the steem blockchain really means, there's an added layer of confusion- *blockchain frontends*.

Steemit is the first frontend on the blockchain founded by Steemit Inc and headed by CEO @NED. Busy.Org is similarly an alternative frontend built on the steem blockchain by @Fabien & @Ekitcho.
