These days there are a lot of cryptocurrencies. [DeepOnion](https://deeponion.org) is one of them. But there is huge difference between DeepOnion and other currencies. It's given for free for it users. Personally I believe in projects with free distribution of tokens, I believe in this idea behind it where developers do not run for millions during ICO without working product or even alpha-version. With idea where value is created by people who use it. Therefore it is highly probable that the project will develop further and developers will make maximum effort for success. And users will help with widespread adoption. There is a roadmap, it's pretty basic, but for the start and distribution campaign it's more than ok.

Deep Onion is a hybrid cryptocurrency that uses proof of stake (PoS) and the X13 proof of work (PoW) algorithm. It is natively integrated with the TOR network and all connections are made over the TOR network (this is stated by the developers, but they do not have any connection to TOR development). 90% of total coins are premined at genesis block (70% will be air-dropped to the community, 20% will be used for bounties, rewards and other promotions. 10% will belong to the dev team). The remaining 10% will be mineable by the public.

Unlike Byteball Deeponion have totally different distribution method. ONION’s receive only active bitcointalk members. Does not have matter how much bitcoins you have or any other cryptocurrency. All you need to do is make deeponion signature, be at least Junior member and make 10 post a week. In total it will be 40 rounds of distribution (for now 5 rounds already passed). In a chart below you can see distribution rounds. Last round will be on 13th of April 2018.

Deeponion is resistant to bag holders and funds like TaaS, Iconomi, TokenFund etc. ONION’s will be able to receive only regular users. That makes distribution more wide and fair. With this idea developers try to share as much as possible tokens among users.

[DeepOnion Bitcointalk thread](https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2006010.0) is very active, more than 530 pages already.
Community is risen very rapidly and already have a lot of tutorials, videos those help you to understand how DeepOnion works, how to install, encrypt wallet, how to stake coins etc.
