a confessed lady in a group psychotherapy session, who had been trying to change her husband for 35 years. He said that he dedicated two days a week to carry out his project. but she had failed, and now she felt bitter, tired and lonely. He commented between tears that he regretted having spent 35 years of his life trying to accomplish something that had been completely useless.

another wife said that she wrote down all her husband's faults. She admitted that her criticisms and constant attacks had driven her husband and son away from home. neither of them change. The family reunited only when the husband suffered a heart attack, due to which the wife became frightened and began and appreciated the true value of her husband.

considering the problems that arise as a result of the attempt to change the behavior of the spouse - the tensions, the lack of communication and the negative affect on the children - it is convenient to ask: is it worth it? Is it the need to change your spouse to conform to the ideas you have, more important than a happy home, than a loving spouse and emotionally secure children?
