<div class=text-justify>Every so often, Splinterlands presents one of those moments when logic and passion collide—and for me, that moment came again this week when I finally decided to buy the elusive Legendary Conclave Arcana card, Archmage Yabanius.<p>

I had just added some fresh Credits to my account after the market took another dip, planning to focus on Land expansion. But as I browsed the listings, I noticed something I hadn’t seen in a while: Archmage Yabanius’s price had dropped. Not by much—it’s still one of the rarer and more expensive cards in circulation, especially within the Modern format—but enough to make me pause, think, and then, well… click buy.

The Collector’s Conflict

I’ve always been a collector at heart. Building complete sets and tracking rare cards has been part of the joy for me since my early days in Splinterlands. So owning at least one Archmage Yabanius card felt almost necessary—a small piece of game history tied to one of the most recognizable figures in the community.

But here’s where the internal debate kicks in: collecting everything can easily turn into an obsession, and as the game continues to release new editions, the cost of staying complete keeps rising. I’ve been cautious about not letting collecting become a drain on enjoyment.

Last year’s Promo card sales were a turning point for me. The pricing structure didn’t quite match the perceived value, and that experience soured me a bit. I decided to skip a few offers and, in hindsight, I don’t regret that decision—but it still lingers in my mind whenever a new opportunity comes up.

Why I Took the Leap

Despite all that, this time felt different. Archmage Yabanius isn’t just another card—it’s a symbolic piece of the Conclave Arcana era, and its scarcity gives it long-term significance both for gameplay and for collectors. With the market cooling off, this seemed like a chance to grab it before prices rebound or supply dries up further.

In the end, I told myself what every collector eventually learns: sometimes it’s okay to dive in for the piece that truly matters to you.

For now, I’m glad I made the move. My collection feels more complete, and even if I stop short of chasing every Legendary in the edition, having this one feels special. It’s a tangible reminder of what I love about Splinterlands—the thrill of discovery, the strategy behind timing a purchase, and the quiet satisfaction of owning something rare.

If this is the “new normal” for high-end cards, I’ll need to stay disciplined. But today, I’m just happy to finally say: Archmage Yabanius has officially joined the collection.</div>
