<div class=text-justify>With the Conclave Arcana PreSale behind us and the packs finally unlocked for opening, I dove headfirst into what I hoped would be one of the more thrilling parts of the entire experience: the bulk pack opening. And while it was exciting, this one felt very different from past set reveals—not just in cost, but in strategy.<p>

Unlike prior editions, this launch introduced multiple pack types—each offering different probabilities, costs, and paths toward value. That alone created a new mental game. With my available DEC, I chose a spread approach, committing portions to each pack type during the PreSale. It wasn’t the most optimized strategy, admittedly, and in hindsight, it means I won’t be anywhere close to maxing out this set without additional investment.

Still, that wasn’t really the point this time around.

The real driver behind my decision—and I’d bet for most players too—was the chance to hit the new chase tier: Black Foils.

These cards are a game-changer. Fully maxed from the moment they drop, they offer instant utility in both Land production and battle prowess, and they’re scarce enough to command real respect and value across the ecosystem. Whether you’re a collector, a player, or a land strategist, they carry serious weight.

So how did my chase go?

After burning through my packs (which went much faster than previous editions thanks to the higher pack costs), I came away with:

- 4 Black Foils total (excluding the Promo Raffle card)
  - 2 Commons
  - 1 Epic
  - 1 Legendary (Mint #1)

Yes, you read that right—a Mint #1 Legendary Black Foil. That alone turned what could have been a solid but unspectacular pack opening into something that felt truly unique. And the Epic Black Foil? That one appears to be gaining traction as part of the early meta conversation in battles, which adds another layer of value and decision-making.

While I didn’t pull any Black Foil Arcane variants, I wasn’t really expecting to—those are extremely rare and reserved for the lucky few. No complaints there. My Raffle Reward Promo Black Foil already scratched that itch in a big way, and the rest of my results were well within (or above) expectations.

Now the question is what to do with these new cards.

The Legendary Mint #1 has bragging rights, sure—but also potential market value. The Epic may end up being a core piece of my modern deck or even a flex asset for delegations or trading. And all four are viable Land workers, which will be important as the Land 1.5 economy ramps up.

I do feel the FOMO creeping in again, though. The more I look at what I pulled—and what I didn’t—the more I’m tempted to go back for more. The cost of these packs makes it tough to justify without a clear plan, but something tells me my Conclave Arcana journey isn’t over yet.

For now, I’m content (mostly). These pulls reminded me why I love this part of Splinterlands—the risk, the reward, the strategy, and that little jolt of electricity when a rare card flips and reveals something special. Here’s to the next chase—and maybe a few more Black Foils before this edition is through.</div>
