I have noticed a trend here that involves down voting posts that include the word "steemit" as a tag. For those of us who are new to creating content on this platform it becomes a problem because our posts are less likely to be seen and it could potentially decrease our reputation score. No where have I seen any posts warning new comers of these issues, but I wanted to take the opportunity to raise awareness on the topic. I had to make a point in searching information about down voting and I noticed that others have had the same problem. <center> https://media.giphy.com/media/xT9Igs3O66HxFD5qjm/giphy.gif <center> Why don't those who are considered whales point this out to those who are new to the platform? No, you guys wait for people to figure it out for themselves instead, and make a point of **policing** content. Policing content here in my opinion is the same as censoring because you and I both know that if you downvote often enough the account will lose reputation, the content will less likely be read and will be lost in the stream of thousands of other bits of content uploaded daily. **STOP being *so* petty and anal retentive if you want the site to grow!** You need to realize that not everyone has had as much experience with the site as you have, don't have the same power and influence on the platform and are doing their best to help promote, provide useful information, and put in the effort to invest our steem dollars into this place instead of cashing out. **Do you want the site to gain in momentum?** Then stop being a greedy, self centered asshole to those of us who do care! For many of us, it's not all about the $$! **Advice to New Content Creators** My advice is to be diligently mindful of your tagging process and especially consider taking more time to perfect your layout and formatting style. Posts that do not include photos, that don't use **bold** and *italics* often times go unnoticed and do not receive the attention they deserve, so we should learn how to format effectively and find royalty free images to add to our posts. You want to make sure you add plenty of GIFs, as well! The whales need more cowbell and the only way to get it is to search for more GIFs and royalty free images! Be more creative by using flashy text and color! https://media.giphy.com/media/l0HlBwsIWjIgEQXMk/giphy.gif I recently read somewhere that there's a certain member who gets "peeved" if photos aren't centered! Ha, that's hilarious to hear that a person's main focus is on whether a photo is placed strategically! Rather than valuing an article's contents you would downvote because you didn't like a photo, didn't think the person formatted to your preference or maybe they didn't include a photo at all! This is what you sound like to those of us who are new, truthfully - "Oh, I have nothing better to do with my time than search through posts and make a point in teaching this "newbie" that things have to be done my way or else!" How much more petty can you get? https://media.giphy.com/media/26n6CwmUzWmoyLhHG/giphy.gif I **read** the content here, instead of being one of those who would rather look at the "pretty pictures" I find the most value in *useful* information and building community not throwing my *pseudo* intellectualism around on those who are smaller than myself and pretending I'm the most **powerful** Steemian of them all! Stop abusing your power and learn to help those who are less knowledgeable and experienced. Oh and another thing, make sure you provide enough spaces between paragraphs because the whales don't like blocked text!!
