For our wedding last month we had to spend an awful lot of money. Now I never mind spending money when it's for the right reasons but weddings are full of shit. All the little extras that mean nothing and that are overpriced just because the word wedding is used. It's painful to see what some people are willing to pay just for some photos. You need to have a special ring box, named hangers, dressing gowns, balloons ect... all just for the bride in her house. Just for the photos and nothing else. That's the part that hurts the most. Money is hard earned but easily wasted. If your buying for the sake of it then your wasting your money. The wedding was necessary but we tried to avoid the majority of the shite that is normally associated with these events. he stuff that doesn't add anything to the day. Photobooth's, doughnut walls, ice cream carts. What these have to do with a wedding I don't know but they don't make it a better day in my opinion. We focused on the venue, the food, the music and that everybody was well looked after. Hopefully that was the case. I also cut costs where we could by shopping around and buying online instead of from the wedding vendors who charge a fortune. I had to buy 5 pairs of smart shoes and the suit hire shop was charging $110 per pair but after taking a step back and shopping online I found a very similar pair for less than $20 on Temu a cheap Chinese site. They were perfect and saved $400 on just one item. We found a few other places to cut costs but if we didn't the total could easily have been up to $10K more. Everything that we had was being put into the wedding for the past year and all of our time and energy as well. Now that it's all over we can sit down and re evaluate where to go next. How can we take the good habits that we build over the past year and move forward to create more passive income and wealth? How can we keep saving money and cut down on unnecessary costs going forward to have a better cash flow? Where can we invest to increase our money and multiply it for future profits and passive income? We do have a few parts of the house which need upgrading and will put some money into that but the end goal is to buy a couple of small properties in Limerick or Galway when the time and the markets are right so to do that we need to build up a good bankroll easily accessible and ready to go when the market conditions are right. Until then I have crypto but that is so volatile that it's not great for putting all of my money into and you never know what way the markets will react at any given time. The housing markets might drop but so could crypto at the same time. It's very hard to find good investments in Ireland as taxes and regulations make it hard to increase your money. Land and property are the best options but you need a lot of money to get started at any scale. The other option that we will be looking at is to create some extra revenue streams that we can manage from home and just increase our income which will have the same effect and hopefully give us the bankroll to get into property. No better time to get started than right now and set some plans and goals for the future.
