Receiving a message from someone close to us makes us happy. We are overjoyed when the "good news" is confirmed true. However, when we find out that the message is not true, we get dissapointed and we are urged to find the truth. It is honesty in relaying messages. Likewise, we have the responsibility to communicate as accurately as possible any information that we need to give to others. That is why listening is a very important skill in the communication process.
Communication plays a vital role in the life of every individual, young and old alike. With the advent of modern communications, we wonder how messages can be relayed in just a few seconds regardless of how far the distance is. We have now various gadgets, social media revolution and satellites. However, in any communication process there is a corresponding responsibility that goes with it-to tell or relay what is authentic and true.
We experience this even in our families, peer group etc. Sometimes, a quarrel begins due to misinformation or "tsismis." In that case, we need to go out of ourselves to find out what is true, and not just believe and accept what has been relayed to us without verifying the real truth.
As Christians, we are called by God to witness the truth. We can do this by being a good listener and by learning the skills of a good speaker so that we can relay messages accurately and truthfully. It is by being a good communicator that we can spread God's message of love.
God our Father is an excellent model of communication. He listen to our needs and send messages in order for us to know his message. He uses instruments to relay the message accurately to others the way He wants it to be.
In several ways, God speaks to us through signs and symbols.
>First, God reveals himself through creation. In creation, man holds a special place- "Let us make man in our image, after our likeness." (Gn.1:26) God created the whole world for us, to support us and reveal Himself to us through His handiwork. This is what we called the natural signs.
>God also communicates His messagevof love in the Scripture or Bible, through Salvation History. The sacred scriptures records God's entering into a special covenant with His chosen people, the race of Abraham, the people of Israel. "I will dwell in the midst of the Israelites and will be their God." (Ex. 29:45)
>God as faithful communicator of love, did not cease to communicate His love to His chosen people, even though there are times when we are rebellious and hardhearted. In spite of these, He continously communicates His love by sending His only Son to be our Savior. It is Jesus who perfected God's communication. He concretely communicates the Father's love "in words and works, signs and miracles, through his death and glorious ressurection. (Vat. II, DV, 4) Hence, we can say that Jesus Christ, our Risen Lord, is the Father's message of true love. In other words, Christ is "the unique, irrevocable, and definite revelation of God."

Reflection
Jesus invites us to live out the truths in our everyday life through obeying God's commands, it will surely guide us to live as children of God. We are called to continually listen to God's Word in the Church today.
