0.000 HBDTBR June - My very optimistic TBR list for the month of June

Hello everyone and welcome to another blog post. I have been meaning to share my June TBR list for few days now and I am finally doing that today even though we are almost half way through the month.
---

After a reading slump, May was finally a month when I got back to reading and I really enjoyed some good books. June also started great but these days I am struggling a little bit with my current read. Originally I had six titles on my list for June but then I found another library book I have been meaning to read for a while so that makes seven books in total.

---

Delia Owens - Where the crawdads sing

Status: read Number of pages: 315

This book was very popular in Serbia and I even picked it for a giveaway I had on my Instagram profile. I have to say this book got me hooked and it was so hard to put it down! What I loved the most is a very vivid description of Kya's loneliness living in the marsh after all of her family members abandoned her and the way she found comfort and security in nature and all the living beings surrounding her. Combined with a murder mystery and love story, this was a very enjoyable read! I watched the movie after finishing the book and it's a decent one but it missed the thing I loved the most about the book - Kya's deep connection to nature and her loneliness. I know that movies have to leave some things behind, otherwise they would be hours long.

---

Won-pyung Sohn - Almond

Status: read Number of pages: 229

Some of you might know I am a big fan of K-pop, especially BTS and ever since I saw my favorite member reading this book in an episode of their reality show where they went on vacation and filmed it, I had this book on my wish list. It was finally translated to Serbian so I bought it. It even says on the cover that it is "a book recommendation by the Korean pop sensation BTS". Essentially this book is about a boy who is uncapable to feel any emotions due to under-developed part of his brain that is in charge of these emotions and it has a shape of an almond and another boy who is his bully. Despite this, they end up being friends and dynamic of their friendship is something that is described so well in this book. Even though it is very interesting, this book has some parts that can be quite brutal and disturbing.

---

Miodrag Majic - Deca zla

Status: currently reading Number of pages: 349

I am only 20 pages in and I feel like I need a little bit more to really get into the story. Miodrag Majic became very popular here in Serbia and has three books published so far, all three reaching amazing success! I own two of his book and third one I got from the library. I have decided to read his books in order of publishing so "Deca zla" which translates as "Children of evil" is first one and I really hope I'm going to like it.

---

Jojo Moyes - After you

Status: TBR Number of pages: 333

Ever since I finished "Me before you", I have been meaning to pick up the second part from the library but these titles are often taken (we have only one copy of each at my small local library) so when I found "After you" on the shelf the last time I was at the library, I had to get it so my June TBR list ended up with seven books instead of six. If I don't get suck into "Deca zla", I might start "After you" as I am really curious about this book and I feel like it would get me back into reading.

---

Emily Bronte - Wuthering heights

Status: TBR Number of pages: 334

One of my reading goals for this year was to read at least a few classics because there's quite a lot I have never read to be honest. I got this book second hand, it was super cheap and in great condition so I thought Why not? I am looking forward to dive into this book as well as few other classics I have on my TBR list for 2023.

---

Lorenzo Marone - Magari domani resto

Status: TBR Number of pages: 361

I'm not sure about the official English title of this book but it would probably be "Tomorrow I might stay". In May I read a book by Lorenzo Marone for the first time and I absolutely fell in love with that book - it will probably end up in my top 5 for this year. I was so happy when I saw that my local library has few more of his books so I ended up choosing this one but I think I'll eventually read everything that has been translated to Serbian.

---

Sally Rooney - Beautiful world, where are you

Status: TBR Number of pages: 298

Few years ago I've read "Normal people" by Sally Rooney and it was one of those books where I couldn't really decide if I liked it or not which is something that doesn't happen often. This left me intrigued so I am curious to see if I'm going to like her other work or it's just her writing style that will leave me indecisive again. At some point I will most likely read "Normal people" again but in the meantime I am going to dedicate my time to a huge TBR list I have created for this year.

---

Looking at the numbers of pages of these books and how much time I have left, I'm not sure if I'll be able to complete all of them in June. I am more of a mood reader rather than someone who plans and sticks to a reading list but it's fun to change things up every now and then. Thank you for being here, let me know in the comments what are you currently reading or your opinion on any of the books mentioned in this post. :)

---
