Friends of Hive DIY, welcome to my post once again, I'm Nitsu and here I want to share with you another of the work I did in college. For those who don't know, I graduated a few months ago, but I still have some little things saved to bring, discuss and enjoy, some nice memories that I would like to leave captured here on the platform.

To begin, in this work we had to buy a wall clock and intervene choosing a theme and shaping it, for example, I took three options to talk to my teacher and see what was more viable. On the one hand I thought of Steampunk which is a concept that I really like, to think of an advanced future but with ancient mechanisms moved by gears and steam blows my mind, another option was to use the style of the known skin of Counter Strike, Asiimov that personally both the colors, shapes and style blows my mind and finally, the one that was chosen by my teacher was the futuristic retro tech theme with vibrant colors and geometric shapes that refer to an ancient advanced civilization but forgotten in time.

Para comenzar, en este trabajo teníamos que comprar un reloj de pared e intervenirlo eligiendo una temática y plasmándolo, por ejemplo, yo lleve tres opciones para hablar con mi profesor y ver que era más viable. Por un lado pensé en el Steampunk que es un concepto que me gusta muchísimo, pensar en un futuro avanzado pero con mecanismos antiguos movidos por engranajes y vapor me vuela la cabeza, otra opción era utilizar el estilo de la conocida skin del Counter Strike, Asiimov que en lo personal tanto los colores, como las formas y el estilo me vuelan la cabeza y por ultima, la que fue elegida por mi profesor fue la temática retro tech futurista con colores vibrantes y figuras geométricas que remiten a una antigua civilización avanzada pero olvidada en el tiempo.

My teacher thought the latter was much more original and with more possibilities when working with colors and shapes, so after presenting the ideas I focused more on developing the latter by putting together a user card where I overturned as would be the type of user who would buy this watch, where it could be located and on the other hand the style card where I chose images, objects and colors that could serve and be consistent with the clock. These two cards would be my tools to work with during this project.

A mi profesor le pareció muchísimo más original esta última y con más posibilidades a la hora de trabajar tanto con colores como formas, así que tras presentar las ideas me enfoque más en desarrollar esta última armando una carta de usuario en donde volque como seria el tipo de usuario que compraría este reloj, donde podría estar ubicado y por otro lado la carta de estilo en donde elegí imágenes, objetos y colores que podrían servir y estar acorde al reloj. Estas dos cartas serian mis herramientas para trabajar durante este proyecto.

I also took the opportunity to look for work from previous years to get an idea of the level expected by the teachers, plus it serves as inspiration to give me an idea about materials, colors, processes and opportunities to achieve something really nice, because once finished this work each one could keep what I think. What better than having a unique clock decorating my house?

Tambien aproveché y estuve buscando trabajos de años anteriores para darme una idea del nivel que esperaban los profesores, sumado a que sirve de inspiración para darme una idea sobre materiales, colores, procesos y oportunidades para lograr algo realmente lindo, ya que una vez terminado este trabajo cada uno podía quedarse con lo que creo. ¿Qué mejor que tener un reloj único decorando mi casa?

As possible materials to achieve the neon colors I wanted I thought of acrylics, although it was an interesting budget because in my country it is somewhat expensive, acetates, eva rubber, 3D printing, cardboard or high impact. Once I started to investigate and find out prices I realized that acrylic, besides being very expensive, no supplier had colors similar to the ones I needed, so that was completely ruled out.

Como posibles materiales para lograr los colores neón que yo quería pensé en acrílicos, aunque era un presupuesto interesante porque en mi país es algo caro, acetatos, goma eva, impresión 3D, cartulinas o alto impacto. Una vez me puse a investigar y averiguar precios me di cuenta que el acrílico además de ser carísimo ningún proveedor tenía colores similares a los que yo necesitaba, así que eso quedo totalmente descartado.

On the other hand, there was a moment in the project where I was very blocked mentally when creating proposals and ideas, so it occurred to me to use generative AI to make many proposals for watches with the style I had in mind, from there I went decanting and taking resources that could be interesting to solve my project. Of course I say that it was very enriching to do this.

In the Figma online program I was generating different ideas, proposals that I was presenting class by class to my teacher to reach the best result. Every week I went around my class to see the work of my other classmates, to see the general level, to take inspiration and try to improve what I had.

Once I had my watch ready, I had to generate a notebook showing the process of the watch, showing the pieces I generated, the materials I used, the inspiration cards with the images trying to give all this a theme accordingly. I greatly enjoyed the work I did and the result, I did not control the expenses of this work, but the truth is that I could save a lot by making many 3D printed pieces taking advantage of the colors of the different brands of filament that I could get.

Una vez tuve mi reloj listo, toco generar un cuaderno mostrando el proceso del reloj, mostrando las piezas que genere, los materiales que use, las cartas de inspiración con las imágenes intentado darle a todo esto una temática acorde. Disfrute enormemente el trabajo que hice y el resultado, no controle los gastos de este trabajo, pero la verdad pude ahorrarme mucho al realizar muchísimas piezas impresas en 3D aprovechando los colores de las diferentes marcas de filamento que pude conseguir.
