Technology is shaping a lot of sectors in our world today. The future is indeed digital. Back then, it was basic computer science that schools usually incorporated for students , but nowadays , it's all about coding right from primary school. Lots of schools around me now offer coding lessons for their learners starting from lower primary down to secondary school, although they don't make it compulsory due to the fee that is involved, but they always encourage parents to key into this coding early enough for the good of the children.

It's obvious that our world is evolving fast with technology as the heartbeat of this evolution. Most things are now tech-driven. A lot of activities we do day to day have code behind them. And then the question of if coding/programming should be made compulsory in school arises. Looking closely into this question and how much our world keeps advancing with tech, I will say yes, let's catch them young. Let the basics of coding and programming be made compulsory for the learners, and if possible, make the fee affordable so that some parents wouldn't opt out of it, talking from my experience so far.

Go to Facebook, Instagram , LinkedIn, etc.; it's all about coding ads mostly for children. People are now moving towards the trend. Lots of good jobs are now tech-related. It's either you want to catch up with the latest or stay outdated. I know young graduates in their early and late twenties dealing in millions currently because of their knowledge of coding and programming. They started early enough to embrace this coding of a thing, and after they graduated, they landed themselves cool jobs with fat salaries. 


Coding/programming lessons are complicated. I must say, but imagine beginning early enough; it will be much easier for the children to grab far more than adults struggling to code those strange things over there , lol. I was once exposed to coding by a friend who is a guru on it; no one asked me to run away almost immediately because everything sounded like Latin words…lol. But when children are exposed early enough to the basics, they become familiar with them, and gradually , those that want to go deeper begin to get it better without much struggle. Coding has the ability to increase logical thinking in learners; it also teaches problem-solving, and these are good skills one should have in our competitive world today.

Most of us didn't have the privilege to grab this knowledge in our early stage of education , so it's going to be a handy skill for the kids if coding and programming should be made compulsory for every child in school. I believe no knowledge is a waste, especially coding in this digital world. It's a plus for the children if they could grab most of the basic knowledge before they're old enough to decide their own field of choice later in the future.

So yes, it is! Even though coding and programming is never an easy-peasy thing to learn, it's better to learn it as a child and then hone those skills into adulthood; it becomes a win-win.
