So I have been trying to improve my typing skill and speed. About a month ago I started practicing touch typing. It was a tedious learning process, however, learned some valuable lessons from the whole experience.

During my early days, I was obsessed with speed, even though I had not mastered the skill yet. I was just starting but I wanted to type faster. Whenever I tried doing so I made a lot of errors. My fingers moved randomly and got frustrated.

However, when I tried taking my time my accuracy increased. I went from making several errors to none. Also, unconsciously my speed increased gradually as practiced more to a point I did not have to think much about what I had to type (muscle memory).

I was impressed by this little achievement. It taught me briefly about the valuable lesson of patience and dedication. This is something that cuts across different aspects of our lives.

***Most people are moving quickly to nowhere***. Most people are only particular about the end of the journey and not the means. We all want to be successful but fewer people care about the process of getting to that point of success.

In these times there is a great obsession with speed. It is part of our culture. People want to do things faster even when it has no impact on productivity.

This need for speed also manifests itself in our relationship with others. We don't take time to learn about people, what makes them tick. Instead, we want to get what we can out of them and that relationship and move on.

***What if we slow things down?***

Some of my best times are away from the busy city life I dread (this is why I have almost wanted to work remotely). The noise, the overload of information, and external stimuli. It is suffocating.

Whenever I am away I feel a sense of tranquility. Everything seems to slow down even time. Do you ever wonder how time flies in most cities? This isn't the case in the townships. People don't seem to be in a hurry and that drives a city boy like me crazy sometimes.

However, it is refreshing to see things slow down. My thoughts are clearer and I can plan better.

**FIND BALANCE**

Speed is important. It allows one to do more with less time. However, that's not the case with everything. Some things need time to mature. Forcing their growth is only counterintuitive.

So it is imperative to find balance in your life. Take time to learn and make prompt decisions. Having proper knowledge about a subject gives you the ability to make quick and informed decisions about them.

*Slowly build up speed.*
