I think the root of the problem can be traced to a few key factors. One is human greed and the fact that industry is more about making profit in our system, than about meeting the needs of the public. The top echelons of the political-economic structure have been extracting so much wealth out of the system that there literally wasn’t enough legitimate places to reinvest their excess income - which means all the wealthy were doing, along with retail investors that had excess cash, was bidding up the price of various investments.

In the US, much of the excess wealth was “created” by what could be considered a type of fraud - as the Central bank was printing fiat currency to fund war crimes as well as handouts to the biggest banks and corporations by adding those expenses to the national debt. This is another way of saying that wealth was extracted from the economy before the money was even made, and the costs were added to the national debt for future generations to pay off.

Another factor mentioned in the article was and is automation employed to increase profits by eliminating the expense and trouble of dealing with and maintaining a human labor force. There seems to be no loyalty or patronage by the wealthy that profited from the labor of working class consumers. By keeping too much of the profits for themselves, while cutting the costs paid out to labor, businesses were, over time, collectively defunding the people that bought their goods and services.

It really has been and is a class war to a significant degree Imo. The Western establishment is on the verge of starving people right off this planet if adjustments aren’t made to the system. Adjustments? What are those the establishment’s wants to know. If adjustments will not increase the relative wealth and power of those at the top of the system, then those at the top have no interest in making adjustments. Something tells me if their own lives depended on adjustments being made, adjustments would then become the first order of business.
