<center>  </center> <br> Hello everyone and welcome back to my Splinterlands blog where today I will be making another post for this weeks Social Media Challenge to help fund my Splinterlands account which is in desperate need of more DEC with all the awesome things in Praetoria and even more to come very soon. Because the Social Media Challenge was a little later than usual to launch, I'm a bit behind with blogging, today it's a Saturday and I still need to make both of my challenge posts for this week so let's get going! To find out how you can participate in the challenge yourself, [check out the splinterlands post here.](https://ecency.com/hive-13323/@splinterlands/splinterlands-social-media-challenge-new-rules-sui218) <center>  </center> <br> # Townhall and Conclave Arcana When you're interested in Splinterlands, it's impossible you haven't heard about the upcoming release of the new core set called Conclave Arcana and if you haven't yet, I really recommend listening to the [Townhall](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LQ0YN9J37rA), there's so much awesome things in there but that's something for my next post I will probably be making tomorrow. <br> <center>  </center> <br> # Planning for the future I've already talked about all the changes coming when the new set launches, and for the less experienced people reading this [I made a detailed post about this](https://peakd.com/hive-13323/@nozem01/splinterlands-are-you-ready-for-the-new-modern-league) with a lot more info but in short, the 'cheap set' Chaos Legion will no longer be allowed in Modern League, so this will have a huge impact on everything including myself. I will be back being a Silver League player again, but I am grateful for the time I was able to earn the awesome rewards in Diamond so I was able to make my deck as strong as possible in preparation for the big change. A lot of players, including myself don't belong in these high leagues, it's not how the game was designed but because of the price of the Chaos Legion set being one tenth of Rebellion, it's not hard making the choice which set to use and because of that, Rebellion wasn't in high demand and it's now being sold out - making this a very small set which can become very valuable in the future. Mark your calendar, on May 13th the new set will launch, pushing Chaos Legion out of Modern League, so overnight a lot of players who haven't prepared for this change won't be able to play anymore. I don't know what percentage is now playing with mainly Chaos Legion cards but when I look at my battles in Diamond, I estimate it's over 80% so I can only imagine what this is going to do with the reward pool! And this is not the only thing that's going to change - guild brawl frays will change as well. <center>  </center> <br> # Changing plans So for today's post I was actually planning to make a post about the cool fact I was seeing some famous people in my battles, in this season I fought against Cryptomancer, Royal Eagle, Nate Aguila and Aftersound, and most of them kicked my ass but I don't mind 😄 But then when I was draining my energy and I had a very good run, my Baakjira was turning in to a KILLER whale, and I was actually expecting to be countered, playing the same set-up three times in a row <center>  </center> But then, the water splinter was unavailable for the next couple of battles but my streak kept going when this happened, I got in to Champion 3! <center>  </center> I don't think I ever reached Champion in Modern League before and I wasn't even paying attention to my rating - which is a good thing because else I might have felt the need to perform really well and mess up. I had one more win in Champion and then I has this battle (well, it actually was a free win because of a surrender, this happens to be as well sometimes when I'm doing other things while waiting for my opponent) I made a new personal high in SPS earnings, going from 9.3 to 9.7 and for the first time earning over 1000 glint, pretty damn awesome! <center>  </center> But, of course I don't belong here, I don't have any of the OP promo cards and don't have Rebellion summoners at this level so I was rightfully kicked out of Champ again, which is fine, I'm just enjoying the ride and earning what I can before I'm back to Silver again. 😀 <center>  </center> <br> # Enough talk, show us a fight! Yeah, what is a Splinterlands post without sharing a battle, right? So today I want to show how powerful Baakjira is, even against one of the best tanks in the game, Diemon Shark, with enrage and retaliate he's very dangerous, but like every card in the game it has counters - Arkemis the Bear, Baakjira and a card I don't see a lot, Musa Saline. I'm using two of them in my battle! <div class="pull-right">https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/nozem01/23u5ZPRdwvepeS9pzYfQycCuJ2v4TkncTo7CNYGGEr79brWVpjuVm8Xx2LUAAM8KkV163.png</div>The battle I want to share is one of the three Baakjira line-ups I played in a row, it's an awesome card with 16HP for only 6 mana and without bringing affliction to counter its healing it's a real pain because it heals for 5 every round. This battle is fought in Diamond 1, just before I pushed to Champion 3. It's a 32 mana Broken Arrows / Counterspell / Ferocity battle, so a heavy emphasis on melee units, I think the mana cap is too low to play Arkemis and water is a great melee splinter so I was expecting to play against water, with probably Diemon Shark as the tank. </div> <br> <br> ### First look at the battlefield: <center>  </center> I was right! Anticipating what your opponent and being right is already an advantage so it's a good start. Playing the shock trooper with counterspell isn't the best plan but he probably was anticipating for a similar team, using an anti melee tank like Diemon Shark (well.. I did play Baakjira in my last fight as well) so it would be a nice way to do some good damage for only 4 mana to waste. Not this time though! Musa Saline is a great cheap card and because it's fast and legendary, it fires before Diemon Shark does, shattering its armor so it can easily be killed by my team. <br> ### My Line-Up: - **Summoner**: Kelya Frendul - reason: Armor and Speed boost. - **First position**: Baakjira - reason: Healing meat shield for only 6 mana. - **Second position**: Flying Squid - reason: Fast, brings Blind and has good damage. - **Third position**: Deeplurker - reason: Heavy damage opportunity with poison, the demoralize is nice too! - **Fourth position**: Musa Saline - reason: The destroyer of armor. - **Fifth position**: Uraeus - reason: Cheap sneak unit with poison. - **Sixth position**: Pelacor Bandit - reason: Cheap sneak unit, very fast and flying. <br> ### The Battle: <center>  </center> **Round 1:** Not a lot has happened because of the heals and repair, my Bandit dodged the attack from Ureaus, it's good because being poisoned this early would be bad. <center>  </center> **Round 2:** That's more like it! Shock Trooper and Ureaus are killed without poisoning my back line, now it's about killing the Merdaali Guardian and the rest will be fine. <center>  </center> **Round 3:** Baakjira is doing its job, even without magic it's just soaking up the damage and healing back up, the enemy healer is down.. let's go! <center>  </center> **Round 4:** I know Musa get's her magic damage reflected but I like using her in spell reflect matches because she shatters armor and players doesn't expect this, and her scavenge makes up for the damage she gets because of the reflect. <center>  </center> **Round 5:** In round 5, Diemon Shark finished the job, another win for me! <center>  </center> Over 7 SPS and 800 glint is very nice, I'm making plans to get another account active to support our second guild so I need more SPS!
