One of the best things about living near the library is [being able to discover new books](https://www.relc.org.sg/welcome), especially the local ones that don't make it to the international press. It's been ages since i last read a comic book so i didn't have much hope when i picked up *The Resident Tourist* that was on display. I'm really glad i did though. Unlike your traditional comic books where there's a hero or villain or maybe some love story, The Resident Tourist is about life through the eyes of the writer/artist. Many of the stories resonate with me because i've had those same conversations with friends and family before and it's fascinating how two different people who've never met (the author and myself), have had many similar life experiences. I guess there are some things that bind us on this tiny island. The writer also went to the same secondary school as me (although he was a few years senior), so it was fun to see some of my teachers featured in the book as well. Their catchphrases hadn't changed even after close to ten years. ## Borrowing the collection I've just finished parts 1-4 and can't wait to start on the 3 remaining books. It might be hard to find in bookstores overseas so if you're interested, the artist's page is at [www.drearyweary.com](https://www.drearyweary.com/). --- [Title image](https://www.drearyweary.com/tourist/sinkie/)
