 "A big mouth is someone who talks too much, right?" she asked.

 

"No," I said. "Did your teacher tell you that?"

 

"Yes."

 

"Actually, someone with a big mouth is boastful, or easily reveals secrets. Think of a big mouth as something words fall out of easily. This sounds like it would mean to talk a lot, but it the idea is more about being LOUD and careless with your speech."

 

"So, what's a person who talks too much?"

 

"That's a chatterbox. You know how "chatting" is casual, friendly speech, like an online "chat"? Imagine a chatterbox as a robot that talks a LOT. My anty is a real chatterbox, and this word usually describes talkative person because they can't often control their desire to speak."

 

"I got it! My anty's a chatterbox, and someone who tells secrets is a big mouth."

 

"Exactly!"

 

Notice how the above example teaches some conversational English in an understandable way?
