Sunset reflections -Entry for the Reflection Hunters Contest
A few weeks ago just after we returned from our OBX vacation I happened to take a late afternoon walk around the neighborhood. You know - after my workday from home was done and to separate thoughts about work from the remainder of the day. Basically, to just walk and clear my mind.

Just around the corner from our house, I found these beautiful red maple leaves. They were lying on some stairs as if the wind had propped them there for me to take a photo. And I did take a couple of shots.

Apparently, my mind needed quite a bit of clearing as it was still daylight when I left but dark when I returned back home.

Welcome to the joys of winter - not. Get up when it's dark and finish work when it's dark. The dark time of the year.

But in this particular case, it worked out really well for me because I got to witness a beautiful sunset that otherwise I would have missed.

It wasn't easy to get good pictures. And honestly, I thought about not sharing them because I really dislike having the power poles in these photos.

But - there was no way around them. Trust me, I tried very hard. Moving here and there, changing from portrait to landscape, zoom in and out - nope, poles are still in the frame.

In fact, that big power pole is in all my pics, incl. power lines. Funny though how some of the power lines perfectly line up with the clouds. In the end, I decided to make my peace with the fact that I couldn't remove the pole unless I photoshopped it out which I didn't want to do.

Colorful and beautiful as the sunset was, the reason I did take these photos was the reflections it produced. First I saw it on the old rail tracks and then I saw the spot in the little river. Doesn't that reflection look like glowing coal in this photo?

Without the power pole and power lines, this might have been an almost perfect pic. But who wants perfection?!

Cheers,
(Ocean)Bee
