There are three more red or reddish species of dragonflies in The Netherlands I haven't posted yet in this series. They are called *ruddy darter* (Sympetrum sanguineum), *vagrant darter* (Sympetrum vulgatum), and *common darter* (Sympetrum striolatum). Their Dutch names are *bloedrode heidelibel*, *steenrode heidelibel*, and *bruinrode heidelibel* respectively. The females aren't red, but various shades of brown, orange and yellow. These three can be hard to tell apart, as you can't reliably determine their species by size, shape, or colour, and you have to look for features like yellow stripes on their legs, the size of the black stripe on their foreheads, and so on. I must admit I usually don't bother and just take photos. *Olympus Stylus 1s, 200mm, ISO100, f8, 1/250s* *Olympus Stylus 1s, 300mm, ISO100, f8, 1/250s* *Olympus XZ-1, 112mm, ISO200, f8, 1/160s* *Olympus Stylus 1s, 300mm, ISO200, f5.6, 1/400s* *Olympus Stylus 1s, 300mm, ISO125, f5.6, 1/500s* Thanks for watching!
