[//]:# (!worldmappin 44.15488 lat -121.64784 long d3scr) ###### <center>**The temperatures cooled somewhat so I decided to get out for a short hike and a visit to the [Jefferson View Shelter](https://wherewewentnext.com/jefferson-view-shelter/) high in the Central Oregon Cascades. Since I'm a little out of shape for a strenuous hike there will also be some video of my drive to the shelter. Below you will find a picture of the final destination for the day. Continue reading to see all the sights and retelling of my adventure. 😄**</center>  ***Click images for larger view***  After parking my Jeep at the trailhead I begin my ascent up to the open plain with some spectacular views of the surrounding peaks. The road you see is where I will continue my journey after the hike. Had I paid more attention to the topographic map during my research of the [Peak View Trail](https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/oregon/peak-view), I might have realized that I was in for quite a steep start to my hike. Being somewhat out of shape I had to stop several times on the way to the top. Here is a shot looking back to the southeast where it was very hazy. <div class="pull-left">  </div> <div class="pull-right">  </div> My first view of a couple of the Cascade mountain peaks. ----- <div class="pull-left">  </div> <div class="pull-right">  </div> Fianlly as I begin to crest the top of the hill, two of the [Three Sisters](https://traveloregon.com/things-to-do/destinations/mountains/three-sisters/) peaks come into better view. The North Sister on the right and the Middle Sister on the left. ----- A little ways off to the left is the South Sister. And here is the three of them in one shot. A little further up the trail is my first view of [Broken Top](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Broken_Top). A left owver reminder of a fire that swept through here some years ago. You can also see some of the blue trail markers since this is a popular snowshoe trail during the winter. <div class="pull-left">  </div> <div class="pull-right">  </div> -----   Reaching the end of my trail for today I look northward to two more of the Cascade peaks shrouded in the haze. [Mt Jefferson](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mount_Jefferson_(Oregon)) on the left and [Mt Hood](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mount_Hood) in the far distance on the right.  A few telephoto shots of the Three Sisters.     Some of the wildflowers and buzzing bees. <div class="pull-left">  </div> <div class="pull-right">  </div> ----- A couple ground level shots. A bees eye view if you will. 🤣  Another shot of Jefferson and Hood... And a last look at Broken top before heading back to my Jeep. <div class="pull-left">  </div> <div class="pull-right">  </div> A fallen tree leaving a large and rock strewn root ball. ----- Back into the forest as I approach my Jeep. ________________________________ After a short drive on a dusty one lane track I arrive at the shelter  Views to the north here include [Mt Washington](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mount_Washington_(Oregon)), Jefferson and Hood. Mt Washington. <div class="pull-left">  </div> <div class="pull-right">  </div> A look inside the shelter. Probably a welcome sight on a cold winter day out snowshoeing. 🙂 ----- Broken Top.
