Let's make Steemit even better #3 - Importance of reputation
# Build Steemit reputation from a sketch
This seems like a difficult mission and maybe it really is. Depends on how you start your Steemit career.
Try to think for the moment of your Steemit account as a business firm.

**You need plan** *( to decide how many posts per day you will produce)*,
**You need to define your core business** *(decide what are the topics of your posts)*
**Who are your clients and target** *(define to whom your post can be interesting and what kind of readers you are referring to)*
**Who are your business partners** *( connect with the same minded people and make friends with them, support them, follow them, interact with them)*
**Investment decision** *( decide to power up(buying tools for your business) or to take money and run)*
This was just funny intro and illustration of your account growth in other words reputation

We all start with the blank paper with the reputation (25), with each new level, it's harder to reach the next one. There is no real limit on the maximum or minimum on your reputation.

# What is Steemit reputation?
The Reputation Score is basically the way the Steemit community measure the value you have brought to the community. Reputation scores accurately represent how much value individuals bring to the platform. The reputation is entirely determined by the number of upvotes you receive from your peers here on the site. You will get positive reputation points for upvotes and negative reputation points when a user of higher reputation flags your content.
Please do not forget that the number in brackets beside your username is the most visible measure of the value of your account.

# No effect to the reputation
The number of followers you have and the number of people you follow does not have a direct effect on your reputation. Regardless of how much Steem Power you have in your wallet, that won’t make any difference to your reputation score.
# Affects the reputation
The reputation score rises only from upvotes of higher ranked users and they help you get to the next level! A single vote from a whale can have a dramatic effect on the reputation score.

# Why is important to have high reputation
- If you have a good reputation score it can increase your chances to catch the eyes of other good power users *(whales)*
- The reputation score helps users to sort out what is likely quality content and what is likely garbage.
- Posts by reputable Steemians may get more visibility be taking prime positions in feeds, some users
don't even read articles posted by low reputation accounts.
- The reputation also secure the STEEM network against plagiarism and abusive users.
