Nigerian parents are just so funny. They can beat up a child for getting a score of 8/10 in an assignment or class work.

It is no longer a new thing as Nigerian parents never took the second position while in school. They are always days when they will sit you down and tell you stories of how they always passed and how the teacher loved them even though some were not privileged to go to school and get the western education.

I want to tell you a story of a boy who was always beaten by his father daily because he wasn't performing well in class. The boy always falls within the range of 60 -65% in class which makes him a 'C' student. Whenever he is going home with his result, he would cry till he had no more tears to cry because his father was going to beat him and tell him he never failed while in school.

One day, After collecting his report sheet, he saw his result and he had 66% he felt a little relieved and went home. When he got home, his father furiously asked him to go get his horsewhip from his room. When the oy got there, he saw a box on the horsewhip, he tried to remove it but the box was weighty, so he lifted the box and the box widely opened. The first thing he saw was his father's result. His father had 23% while he was in school, a statement was written " Such a stubborn and forgetful boy"

Was 23% the pass mark then?
