Good team players are the backbone of any strong organization. No matter how intelligent or smart you are, you cannot work solo for too long and a company cannot thrive if the employees cannot come together to work on a project. Do you know that there are times you will be down, your strength will fail you and at times, your intelligence and brilliancy might even decide to take a break, but when you have good team players, they will be the one to keep things running and pull you up when it seems you are failing. It goes both ways too, you being part of a team means that you get to contribute to make a project successful and also help your colleagues when it seems like they are failing in a particular aspect. So how do you know you're a good team player?

Reliable. 
----------
Have you ever been part of a team and you have to be chasing your colleagues up and down? Some people can be very annoying, honestly, it is when you are meant to work on a project they will either come late or attend the funeral of their great grand mothers, I'm pretty sure you can relate with this. If you're one of such people, then you are not a good team player. One of the major qualities of a good team player is reliability; people should be able to count on you to show up when needed and bring suggestions to help the company grow.

Adapts quickly.

Some team players are discouraging, they will complain from morning till night and then gradually deflate your morale. A good team player is supposed to be able to adapt to situations, knowing that it won't be that way for long, shouldn't get stressed or complain but should be flexible in finding their feet in whatever is thrown their way. Being able to flow with the situation on ground and make do with what is available will make you a good team player.

Communication.

If you are a good communicator, then you'll have no problem being in a team. Good team player re proper communicators, that is because you are not working solo and so you have to let others know how far you have gone and what you have done so far. It will be very aggravating if your team members have to look for you every time or find it difficult to communicate with you.

Encourage. 
-----------
Have you ever been with a team member who criticizes everything you do? How did it feel? Aside from the urge to punch the person's face, you will be regretting working with the person every time you come together. Now imagine working with somebody who encourages your every move, applauds you when you bring a suggestion and makes you feel like you're so intelligent and smart, awesome, right? If you're the latter, then you are a good team player, and if you're the former, well, it isn't too late to get better.
