0.000 HBDBITCOIN: Illegal mining of Bitcoin in Iran is now prohibited!
This is entirely based on an [article I read]([Source](https://u.today/bitcoin-miners-to-face-tougher-penalties-in-iran-if-they-operate-illegally)) recently. Apparently, the Iranian government seized 7,000 devices in an old facility used by illicit miners to mine bitcoin illegally sometime in June last year. [Source](https://pixabay.com/photos/bitcoin-cryptocurrency-blockchain-6631099/) In case you're wondering why; I'll start by asking if you've ever seen anything good come from unlawful activity. My guess is just as good as yours. The implementation of stiff punishments for perpetrators is fueled by the fact that electricity is involved. If not properly handled, can put a strain on the country's national grid. It's easy to criticize the government at times, but we need also learn to look at some decisions from all sides. [Source](https://pixabay.com/vectors/skyline-boston-night-cityscape-2469391/) The incessant blackouts triggered by the use of excess energy to provide electricity to families and businesses throughout winter prompted the Iranian government to ban crypto mining for the second time, sometime late last year, as the national grid could only do so much. There wasn't so much power to go around. [Source](https://cdn.pixabay.com/photo/2019/08/13/03/17/iran-4402419_960_720.png) >There's more guys, apparently, an official of the Ministry of Power Generation, **Mohammad Khodafadi Bohlouli**, stated in his report published by The **Tehran Times** that miners who fail to adhere to the rules would be severely punished. He went on to state that they would be fined and the probability of them being sentenced to jail is very high. [Source](https://u.today/bitcoin-miners-to-face-tougher-penalties-in-iran-if-they-operate-illegally) The decision to ban illegal mining of the currency in December 2021 came shortly after a 4-month long break which started in May but was called off temporarily in September. Regardless, the country’s infrastructure is currently in shambles after years upon years of U.S sanctions >As reported by U.Today, the Tehran Stock Exchange became embroiled in a cryptocurrency scandal after an illegal Bitcoin mining operation was discovered at its headquarters. The head of the exchange had to resign due to backlash. [Source](https://u.today/bitcoin-miners-to-face-tougher-penalties-in-iran-if-they-operate-illegally) What are your thoughts? Do you agree with the Iranian government? Do you have better suggestions for curtailing the illegal mining menace? Thank you for reading!
