I found this guy having a late breakfast last Fall
Once in a while, I get lucky enough to spot some Does grazing or leisurely crossing the road. However, I am always especially pleased when I get to see a Buck or Stag in all its crowning glory. I had to take these pictures quickly to keep from being charged! LOL Wow! Look at those antlers!

Here are some fun facts about deer:
******They are the only group of animals to have antlers

******Their antlers have been said to be the fastest growing tissue in the world

******Each year, they lose their antlers and regrow them. As the antlers grow, they are covered in a furry coat which is rich in blood vessels and nerves. This coat is called velvet ( if you look closely at the pictures above, you can tell that the antlers are slightly velvety)

******A fawn (baby deer) can start walking approximately a half an hour after their birth

******The smallest deer is called the Southern pudu. Here is a picture - Please note, this is not my picture.

*****During mating season, the Stags fight each other using their antlers. The winner gets to mate with the Doe.
I once saw a deer mating ritual on TV which looked something like this video
Please note that no Deer were hurt in the making of the video (from what i could see anyway)
