With block.one CEO Branden Blumer announcing in late November last year (2017) that the company was to support the EOSIO blockchain with over a billion USD in funding from token sales once the software was released. furthermore block.one went on to release a publicly accessible testing environment named the EOSIO Single-threaded Application Testnet (EOSTAT). </p> <p><strong>The Technical Side</strong></p> <p>The platform aims to provide decentralized app hosting, storage and smart contract capability for blockchains like ethereum and bitcoin. It aims to achieve this through its platform being multi-threaded that is (abillity to run on multiple computers regardless of their processor strength) and also through the use of its Proof-of-stake protocol.
