Hello friend, Steemit, a pleasure to greet the day. I want to talk about the truth; No matter what the contemporary world says, the truth exists. There is an objective reality.

A few decades ago it was not necessary to establish this concept. The existence of absolute truths was taken for granted. However, today we live in a time when many believe that everything is relative and that there are no absolute moral principles. But the truth exists ...

__"What is the truth?" (John 18:38). Pilate's profound question touches on a topic of universal interest. In this article we will highlight six truths that the Bible teaches about Truth.__

__Truth No. 1: The truth exists__

The Bible calls God "God of truth" __(Psalm 31: 5)__ and says that Jesus came to this earth " full of grace and truth " __(John 1:14)__. Since truth is an essential part of the nature of God and Jesus is the truth in person and came to reveal the truth, we can be sure that truth exists.

A few decades ago it was not necessary to establish this concept. The existence of absolute truths was taken for granted. However, today we live in a time when many believe that everything is relative and that there are no absolute moral principles.

Their moral principles are very flexible, and they hold that what is true for one person may not be true for another. But that is not the biblical perspective. The Scriptures teach that there are absolute truths that continue to be true, whether one agrees with them or not.

In one of my classes I asked a group of university students to close their eyes and point to what they thought was the north. Then I asked them to keep pointing in that direction while they opened their eyes. This exercise showed that not everyone has a good sense of direction. Some were pointing east, south or west. Maybe some will point up (after all, the north is always up on the maps). And some were right and pointed to the true north. But no matter where they were pointing, that did not change the position of the north.

The director of an aviation center explained to me that it is possible for a pilot flying between clouds to lose the feeling of where the earth is. In other words, do not know where it is above and where it is below. This spatial disorientation is called vertigo. Obviously, it is a dangerous situation for a pilot. If you think you are going up when you are really about to crash, the plane is in serious danger.

This deadly situation that pilots sometimes experience is a metaphor for the contemporary world. The world we live in is suffering from moral vertigo. Many are confused and disoriented. We see the results in the disintegration of our families and society. We hear horrifying stories and terrible atrocities happening around us. It seems that we live again in the days of ancient Israel, when " each one did what was right " __(Judges 21:25).__

A pilot needs to see the horizon as a reference point or, if it is not visible, he has to consult instruments of the aircraft such as the altimeter to counteract this vertigo. In the same way, Christians need the points of reference that the Word of God gives us, the guiding voice of the Holy Spirit that we heard when praying and the counsel and the company of Christian friends to be able to live the truth.

No matter what the contemporary world says, the truth exists. There is an objective reality. There are absolute moral principles and eternal truths. For example, the truth that Jesus died for your sins and mine. Or the truth that he is coming again, that he has a plan for our life, that he wants each one of us to be part of his family, the church, and that we help the needy. The truth exists.

__Truth No. 2: The truth is important__

![true-lie-crumpled-paper-ball-words-background-words-sepia-45698136.jpg](https://steemitimages.com/DQmNjCnLNvUzYtLXvPHKHrdaAYtVkc3Miw5bqc3WPNqpg7W/true-lie-crumpled-paper-ball-words-background-words-sepia-45698136.jpg)

Not only is there the truth, but it is also important. It is vital. It is significant. __In 2 Thessalonians 2:13__ Paul declares that God has " chosen us from the beginning for salvation, through sanctification by the Spirit and faith in the truth ." __Also 3 John 4__ declares: " I have no greater joy than this, to hear that my children walk in the truth ".

Being that we are saved by accepting the truth and that God is glad to see that his children live the truth, it is evident that the truth is important. Sometimes we are confused about what is truly important in life. We are distracted by sports, movies, business or politics. But the way we respond to God's truth is more important than anything else. It matters more than our good grades or having completed studies at a prestigious university. The truth matters!

Have you noticed that when you realize that something affects you personally, it suddenly becomes much more important? Imagine that you are traveling far from your home and suddenly you hear on the radio that an earthquake or a tornado has hit your city. Suddenly you are all ears. You want to know everything possible about the magnitude of the disaster. Why? Because it affects you. And that is why the truth is important. It affects us all.

The way we respond to the truth of God affects the quality of our life on earth. Said Jesus: " I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly " __(John 10:10)__. The happiest, fullest and most satisfying life one can live is a life committed to the truth. Of course, how we respond to the truth affects us not only now, but also for eternity. Our response to Him who embodies the truth determines whether we can live eternally.

Sometimes, when a soccer game is about to start and the cameras focus on the party atmosphere, with fans preparing to cheer on their favorite team, the commentator says: " There's nothing cuter than this ." As suggesting that the party is the most important thing on the face of the earth. With all due respect for football commentators and their fans, I would say yes there is something more beautiful, much more beautiful. When you live in a relationship of friendship with Jesus Christ and you have full security in your love, when you are anxiously awaiting your return, when you are married to the spouse that God led you to, when you have a child in your arms, then is when you can say, "There's nothing cuter than this." The truth is important!

__Truth No. 3: You really have to look for it__

The Bible emphasizes the fact that we have to seek the truth. That is, we must go after her until we find her. Since the truth is so important, it would be ideal for us to possess it naturally, to be intrinsic to human beings; that the knowledge of the truth was as natural and automatic to us as it is to swim for the fish.

But it's not like that; the truth is not inherent to us, nor does it fall into our lap. The Lord declares: " You will seek me and you will find me, because you will seek me with all your heart " __(Jeremiah 29:13)__. What this verse says about finding God is also true with regard to finding the truth, one of God's outstanding qualities. In other words, we find the truth when we look for it with all our heart.

Maybe someone wonders what it means to seek the truth, to seek it truly, with all the heart. I will illustrate it with a personal story. A few years ago I was invited to preach in a rural congress and while I was there with my family, I did something that I should not have done. My wife and I had finished eating and we were talking to some people. My little boy was restless, so I told him to go back alone to the cabin where we were staying.

The cabin was about 100 meters from where we were, but to get there I had to cross a road that swarmed with visitors. When we finished our conversation we went back to the cabin, but we were surprised not to find our son there. We looked for it and we called it aloud, but it did not appear anywhere. Then we frantically looked for him, worried, in the cabins, in the center of the camp, doing everything possible to find him. Every gram of energy we had we concentrated on that search. That's what it means to look for something with all your heart! And how amazing the joy we had when we found our little son.

Each one of us needs to examine his own heart. What are we looking for in life? What are we focused on in our education or profession? God is calling us to more than just preparing for a career or achieving success in it. He wants us to take a serious look at the truth until we find it.
