It's almost as though the post was speaking to me!  I have a charitable project of my own I've been working on and need to complete. I am passionate about a lot of things and get involved in many, many charitable projects.  One has been helping the Inuit people of Canada. Yes I'm Canadian and tomorrow is Canada Day.  Wow this is so fitting!

Our indigenous people in the arctic have been challenged over and over again through the years since the Canadian Government took it upon themselves to decide that their thriving beautiful culture needed to change.  The horrific details of this are appalling and I don't want this to be a negative post but look it up if you may!  I have been helping a local Inuit man distribute food to the homeless of Iqaluit living in old shacks and boats and tents.  They have NOTHING and it's bad.

The shipping rates in Canada to send anything to the north is ridiculous.   I mean I understand the challenges of the arctic but the government who created this mess in the first place, should be stepping in to help!  Canada Post has a new pilot project in the works to offer prepaid shipping boxes at nearly half the cost of regular post.  They are only available at select locations so I've been driving 2 hours away to pick them up as I can afford.  I have a small group of people from my area involved in a Facebook group called Helping our Northern Neighbours.  (Check it out we've been on the news)

Anyways long story short, (I will write a separate post all about it)I have a whole load of donated prepackaged nutritious food packets to get shipped!  I am moving on Aug 1st and would like to have them out by them.  I figure it will cost about $240 to get them up there but any help is SOOOOOOO greatly appreciated! I am a newbie minnow here and don't have much but I'm also hoping to meet like minded people here on steem and would love to make more friends.

I have so much more to share about the plight of our northern people and I will.  Because they deserve it and need all the help they can get!
