One of those places was the beautiful city of Esquel, located in the northwest of the province of Chubut, just 70 kilometers from Chile. I had never traveled so far south over the Andes, and it filled us with excitement and adrenaline. On the first day of our stay in this city, we took a trip to La Trochita (The Little Trochita), an unforgettable experience I highly recommend to anyone who comes to these latitudes. On the second day, it was time to head out for Los Alerces National Park. That morning began with a rush of adrenaline, fueled by the excitement and anxiety of reaching that place we had dreamed of so many times. The road was already breathtaking, marvelous, a landscape of curves and twists on the rise, filled with abundant vegetation, rivers, and streams that provided a wealth of life and tremendous energy. It was as if the road were a prelude to something unforgettable. How can I describe the beauty of those landscapes? The sensations that ran through my body as I traveled kilometer after kilometer, wanting to observe and record those postcards in my retinas while concentrating on driving. Such beauty, such immensity in those landscapes. Era como si el camino nos fuese el preludio de algo que sería inolvidable. > Como describirles la belleza de aquellos paisajes; las sensaciones que recorrían mi cuerpo al recorrer kilómetro, tras kilómetro, queriendo observar y gravar aquellas postales en mis retinas mientras iba concentrado en el manejo. Cuanta belleza, cuanta inmensidad en aquellos paisajes. En esos sitios uno toma una real dimensión de lo pequeños y finitos que somos.      Once we entered the park and after a few stops to explore wonderful sites, we headed to the Arrayanes River Footbridge, the main site we wanted to see and that had dazzled us so many times in videos and photos. We had been waiting for this moment almost since we left our house, so expectations were very high. Once we arrived, we entered at the park ranger's booth, and after paying the 5 USDT entrance fee, my wife and I began the hike that would take us to the Arrayanes River and its famous hanging footbridge. Una vez que llegamos hicimos el ingreso en la casilla de los guardaparques y luego de pagar ingreso de 5 USDT mi esposa y yo, comenzamos la caminata que nos conduciría al Rio Arrayanes y su famosa pasarela colgante para cruzarlo y adentrarnos en un sendero maravilloso rodeado de mucha paz y de naturaleza hacia donde miremos.      We were already where we wanted to be, enjoying the adventure and discovering that precious place. After a 500-meter walk along a trail, we reached the cherished and picturesque hanging footbridge that crosses the Arrayanes River. I observed it from above, focused on the footbridge, integrated it with the landscape, and what happened next was simply magical. All that was left was to cross the footbridge, be dazzled by the landscape, and let our emotions flow, allowing for that beautiful connection I feel with natural surroundings, especially when they are of such extreme beauty. The blue-green color of the river, with its serene flow along that stretch of its path, gave us the wonderful sound of water that transmits so much tranquility and serenity. The trail follows the course of the river, and at times the vegetation is so dense that it doesn't allow us to make eye contact with it, but the relaxing sound could still be heard, letting us know it was very close.     > Ya estábamos donde queríamos disfrutando la aventura y descubriendo aquel sitio tan preciado. Después de una caminata de unos 500 metros por un sendero llegamos a la tan preciada y pintoresca pasarela colgante que cruza el Río Arrayanes. > La observé desde lo alto, me concentré en la pasarela, lo integré con el paisaje y lo que sucedió después fue simplemente magia. Solo faltaba cruzar la pasarela, deslumbrarnos con el paisaje y dejar fluir las emociones para permitir esa conexión tan linda que siento con los entornos naturales y más cuando son de una belleza tan extrema. > El color verde azulado del río con su andar sereno por ese tramo de su recorrido nos regalaba el maravilloso sonido del agua que tanta tranquilidad y serenidad transmite. El sendero sigue el curso del río y por momentos la vegetación es tan densa que no permitía hacer contacto visual con el pero el relajante sonido se seguía oyendo y nos hacía saber que estaba muy cerca.     As we walked along the trail, a fresh air enveloped us, and we could enjoy the smells and sounds of nature. Many plants, countless almost invisible birds, camouflaged among the plants. Countless viewpoints and several signs highlighting the importance of preserving the health of that ecosystem, trying to raise awareness among those who walk these trails. The point we had planned to reach on the trail was the Torrecillas Glacier viewpoint, located approximately 1.5 kilometers from the footbridge crossing. It was a considerable distance for our little girl, who was still 3 years old at the time, so she carried me on my shoulders for a good part of the journey. This viewpoint is located on the shore of Lake Menéndez, and from there, you can see the glacier in the distance, high above the mountains on the other side of the lake. When we arrived, we found some lovely wooden huts on the beach where the girls played, and we took the opportunity to take some photos.      > A medida que avanzabamos en el sendero un fresco aire nos envolvía y se podía disfrutar del olor y los sonidos de la naturaleza. Era una distancia muy considerable para nuestra pequeña que para ese entonces aún tenía 3 años, por lo que buena parte del trayecto la hizo subida a mis hombros. > Este mirador se ubica sobre la costa del Lago Menéndez y desde allí se puede observar a la distancia el glaciar a lo alto de la montañas que están del otro lado del lago. Cuando llegamos allí encontramos en la playa unas lindas chozas hechas de madera en donde las niñas jugaron y aprovechamos a tomar unas fotos.    After staying about an hour in the place and contemplating the site we started our way back since at 7:30 pm the park rangers were leaving and we had to keep the schedule out of respect for them. On the way back we continued marveling at the views and exploring beautiful corners. At one point we came across a sign saying that this was an area that is usually inhabited by pumas and gave recommendations in case we met one during the hike and gave recommendations on how we should react to different reactions that the puma could have. At that moment my oldest daughter became alert for a few moments but soon forgot about it. I explained to her that wild animals usually run away when they encounter humans and that the signage was more than anything else to let her know what not to do under any circumstances. The important thing was not to move too far away from each other and always maintain visual contact. On the way back, before crossing the footbridge, I took a dip in the Arrayanes River to reduce the heat of the hike. Although the water was quite cold, the beauty of the place and the crystal clear water made the bath worthwhile. After the bath it was time to leave the park and start the trip back to the city of Esquel. It was a wonderful day; a day of dreams fulfilled. Si bien el agua estaba bastante fría la belleza del sitio y lo cristalina que estaba el agua hacía que ese baño valiese la pena. > Después del baño tocó la hora de hacer el egreso al parque y emprender el viaje de vuelta a la ciudad de Esquel.
