**The cryptocurrency markets are very much fueled by hype and most everybody is aware of the impact that social media has on the price of cryptocurrency. Most people who stay informed on crypto will do so through a variety of media such as Reddit, Twitter or indeed Steemit. Shilling is common in all of these places. But if you _really_ want to delve into the depths of (oftentimes shady) crypto-hype, there is no better place than to visit 4chan /biz.**

4CHAN
[4chan.org](http://www.4chan.org/) has been around for ages, and if you aren't aware of it directly you may be aware of it indirectly. It is essentially a very bare bones, old school message forum with it's main function being that you can post anonymously. It has led to the site being a cesspool of political incorrectness, insults, shocking images, pornography and sensationalist posting. Anything that is truly terrible on the internet has probably first passed through 4chan before it reached you, if it didn't originate there in the first place.

It has also turned into a somewhat free place to speak. As with all the negative aspects, there are other developments as well. 4chan is one of the places you can go to find obscure things, read about rumors or leaks. And because of it's anonymous posting, is is in fact one of the birthplaces of the group known as 'Anonymous'. That's the level of 'dark internet alley' we are talking about here.

[Wikipedia has a pretty good article on internet subcultures that frequent 4chan](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/4chan). Despite it's terribly ugly site design, like many old school websites (craigslist, for example) 4chan manages to survive and even thrive as the seedy dark alley of the internet. It wouldn't be a place I would recommend visiting to internet-newbies. In fact, I wouldn't recommend visiting it at all: _it's terrible!_ Yet, there are interesting pieces of information to find there. Like cryptocurrency hype.

/BIZ
4chan is divided up into many different channels, each for a different subject. Be careful which category you choose: you may very well end up in the one dedicated to octopus porn. And no, that is not nearly the most terrible thing you'll find there. For cryptocurrency, the discussion takes place in [/biz](http://boards.4chan.org/biz/), which is the Business & Finance discussion board. You'll find a fast moving, discussion where no discussion lasts for very long and messages are short, discussion itself is almost non-existent and insults, pornography and discrimination are rampant. So be warned!
.jpg)
This _is_ however one of the places to be to be on the edge of cryptocurrency hype. There is no other place where people are shilling new coins as hard and often as on here. It is in some ways the perfect barometer to gauge what coins are the newest hype coins, and if there are any leaks from development teams or investors this is the place where they show up very fast. But be careful: this is also the place of _lies and deceit_ as 95% of everything posted here is false shilling and it takes a little bit of knowledge to sift through the gutter to find the diamonds. I did, however, find some unique picks on this board that I managed to get in on before it hit the 'main' social media platforms like Reddit where it got hyped. I've also found details on Palm Beach confidential reports here before they hit the mainstream, as well as false ones of course. Mostly though, you need a thick skin and take everything with a grain of salt what's posted on there. _Definitely do not click any links unless you know what you're doing._ I myself, when I run out of news to dig through, like to browse through 4chan from time to time to see what else is new that I missed. It's my way to try and stay somewhat ahead of the pack.

Again: 4chan is full of lies. If you visit it, do not believe anything on there without properly researching it yourself. Sometimes it's true, many times it is however false. I don't suggest posting there honestly: atleast be more careful compared to other places of the internet. This _is_ the gutter, after all. If you, however, have the guts to give it a visit, you can [click here to go to 4chan / biz](http://boards.4chan.org/biz/) or visit the [catalog view](http://boards.4chan.org/biz/catalog) for better oversight.
