Finding bugs in a culvert.
After the rain, a little Wagtail was hunting for bugs next to the road.

I have a few bird species in here to show you what they do when they come out of hiding, after some heavy rain, and a cold wind. We are well into winter here, and it is said that July is our coldest month. Nowadays we have discovered that winter is coupled to age, as every winter feels colder, and the pains of one's old injuries gets a bit more pronounced :)

But getting back to the birds, I have the habit of watching their lifestyles, and often I discover some interesting actions that are very similar to our human actions. It only tells me that nature has always been a teacher, and for instance the swallows taught the ancient people how to build their huts with mud. All life on earth loves water, as water is life, and without it life will cease to exist.

**Now let's have a look at some other birds.**
The Goose was a plumber, and he was inspecting the roof of his house for leaks.

3 Pied crows were rushing to work, as they were late due to a block in the traffic.

The rock pigeon sat wrapped in its speckled blanket, waiting for things to become warmer.

And finally, here are some tough birds, as the spur fowls are hardly troubled by the weather conditions.

We heard on the radio this morning, that even though this winter feels colder, the temperatures are actually higher than last year's winter. Imagine that? Either someone is smoking something when they say this, or it is psychological for us that it is colder. I don't know about you, but I definitely know that things feel colder. Sadly, we have many floods again in the lower lying areas, and so many people have again lost their houses and all their possessions. We even had 100 deaths in the Eastern Cape floods. Thankfully, our emergency services are on the ball, as many lives were also saved.
Such is life.

I hope you enjoyed the pictures and the story.
