When I visit my dad, my destination is Cape Coral, Florida.  For years I flew into the Southwest Florida Airport in Fort Myers, however, prices for flights have continued to rise so I have been checking out other options. For this trip I used Allegiant Airlines from Rockford, IL into Punta Gorda, FL which is only a 40 minute drive from Cape Coral.  It was a great deal, direct flight, round trip for only $274.

The Rockford Airport was super easy, small with no crowds.  I loved it!  
I did stop at the ticketing area to see if I could get an aisle seat, and I was in luck.  
Not only did I get switched to an aisle, but I got the aisle seat in an empty row!  
The plane was only half full.

The security line was short and the attendants were great!  They didn't have the full body  x-ray booth, they used the walk-thru metal detector instead.  I was randomly selected for the full pat down, but it was quick and easy.

Everyone on board the plane was excited to exchange the 40 degree temps for 80 degrees!

I've been making these visits for 20 years and I have a small wardrobe and golf clubs at Dads, therefore I only needed to take one personal item, my laptop to post on Steem it!!

It was night-time when I arrived in Florida and I was warmly greeted by my father and my Uncle Lee.  It was great to be down to enjoy the pool, hot tub, local golf courses, and of course time with dad.  Tomorrow I'll post about the first round of golf.
