More than half of the voting participants opposed the adoption of the fork of EIP 999, which was supposed to unblock erroneously frozen funds on Ethereum-purses of Parity.
Seven-day voting on the implementation of the update on the Ethereum platform EIP 999 ended in favor of opponents fork. Almost 4 million coins of air were valued at $ 2.7 billion at the current rate.

Recall, the weight of voters was determined by the number of available ether. 330 participants in the survey, owning 2193064.1 ETH said the Fork "No", securing 55% of the vote. Supporters of EIP 999 remained in the minority - 39.4% of the vote or 300 participants from 1569158.6 ETH. Another 9 participants in the poll with significant air reserves - 224709 ETH - chose the option "Anyway", gaining 5.6% of the vote.

The Web3 Foundation's purse, which holds 300,000 coins of air, voted for the implementation of EIP 999. At the same time, Web3 Foundation and Parity Technologies have the same leader - Gavin Wood.

Theoretically, Parity can ignore the unsatisfactory results of the survey and conduct the fork independently, forming another branch of Ethereum. However, Parity employee and developer EIP 999 Afrid Shadon said that they are not going to do this:

"We do not plan to separate the blockbuster [of the air]. We are aiming to restore the contract <...> in accordance with other users and the community as a whole. "

Thus, about $ 350 million on air, which were blocked last fall on 587 Parity wallets, remain frozen for an indefinite period. The funds were blocked accidentally due to an error in the smart contract.
