The phishing attack that originated with @felix.jasper is still ongoing.  In the last 3 hours 2 new accounts appear to have been stolen and 11 phishing posts published.  

Account Zero - @accounttransfers

A new phishing attack was spotted in the last 24 hours when a fellow Steemian noticed an odd memo attached to a transfer. This account is luring users to login to the site `lsteemit.com` to recover a compromised account. Visiting the profile it is trying to masquerade as Bittrex. So far there have been no victim reports on this attack.

# Responsible PSA Posting

When something happens on [steemit.com](https://steemit.com) like the recent phishing attack the first thing everyone wants to do is share the information.  I was literately on my way out the door to a doctors appointment when this was reported and didn't have time to write a quick post declining payout on it. By the time I made it home I discovered @klye had already written a post notifying the community of the attack. A quick search right now shows a couple of dozen posts circulating on Steemit. Many going noticed.  

When something like this happens, before you hit the 'post' button, do a quick search and see if someone else has already posted about it. If they have, if you don't have anything to contribute such as a new post in a different language,  instead of creating a new post resteem and comment on the existing post.

If you don't find a post I encourage users to create a new post declining rewards and hit the chat channels asking users to upvote and resteem it. Let's work together as a community to get the word out as quickly as possible and on the trending page without profiting from the situation. 

After the word is out then take the time to research and write an in-depth post about it. 


### Posting Exploit Links

When posting links to exploit sites do not post them as a click-able link to prevent the accidental spread of the attack. The in-line code function is a quick an easy way to make readers aware of the links. You'll noticed I used it previously to alert users to this site`lsteemit.com`.
