We are on Thursday; I am waiting for some technicians from an Internet company who announced that they would come today. Earlier, I had gone shopping to complete the provisions for the house, but it was a matter without major incidents to put it in detail in the record of the day. What has happened interestingly and that motivated me to make a small change in my way of publishing my day-to-day record in my #life, is that for the first time one of my writings has been confused with something produced by an AI, which is not the case, but I found it curious that they detected me as if I were a #computer running a #chatbot type application for blog. <br><br>+++</div>

Estamos a día jueves, estoy a la espera de unos técnicos de una compañía de Internet que avisaron que vendrían hoy. Más temprano, yo había salido de compras para completar los víveres para la casa, pero fue un asunto sin mayores incidencias como para colocarlo detalladamente en el registro del día. Lo que ha sucedido de interesante y que me motivó a hacer un pequeño cambio en mi manera de hacer la publicación de registro de mi día a día en esta #vida mía, es que por primera vez se ha confundido una redacción mía con algo producido por una IA, cosa que no es así, pero me pareció curioso que me detectaran a mí como si fuera yo una #computadora corriendo una aplicación del tipo chatbot para #blog. <br><br>+++

Normally, my daily log focuses on commenting on the personal things of my day and then commenting on some #History ephemeris that corresponds to the same day, but with this peculiar situation today, that of the query about the possible use of an AI to generate the content for one of my posts, I thought I'd make a change to my record today. <br><br>
The thing is, I decided to take the text I had written for my post, in a text document written offline, in a word processor, and run it through a verification #App, which is mainly focused on its use for the field academic, but that's normal, after all I've been a teacher for a couple of decades or so, so I usually choose tools related to my area. <br><br>+++

Normalmente, mi registro diario se enfoca en comentar sobre las cosas personales de mi día y luego comentar sobre alguna efeméride de la #Historia que corresponde al día mismo, pero con esta situación peculiar de hoy, la de la consulta sobre el posible uso de una IA para generar el contenido de una de mis publicaciones, pensé en hacer un cambio en mi registro de hoy. <br><br>
El asunto es que decidí tomar el texto que había escrito para mi post, en un documento de texto escrito fuera de línea, en un procesador de palabras, y pasarlo por una App de verificación, que está enfocada principalmente en su uso para el ámbito académico, pero eso es normal, después de todo he sido profesor por un par de décadas aproximadamente, así que suelo elegir herramientas afines con mi área. <br><br>+++

The good thing is that the site returned the result that I already knew, indicating that my text was most likely completely generated by a human, but the same site warns that in case of suspicious indications of the use of some #AI, caution was recommended in this, so as not to falsely accuse from a single analysis, since it indicates that there may be cases of erroneous detection. These detection errors (or 'false positives') are due to the fact that, with the continuous development and learning of applications that generate text by Artificial Intelligence, there are cases in which a text written entirely by a human can be confused with one that wrote an AI. <br><br>+++

Lo bueno es que el sitio arrojó el resultado que yo ya sabía, indicando que lo más probable es que mi texto fuera completamente generado por un humano, pero el mismo sitio advierte que en caso de que se detectara indicios de sospecha del uso de alguna #IA, se recomendaba cautela en eso, para no acusar falsamente a partir de un solo análisis, pues se indica que se pueden dar casos de detección errónea. Estos errores de detección (o ‘falsos positivos’) son debido a que, con el continuo desarrollo y aprendizaje de las aplicaciones generadoras de texto por Inteligencia Artificial, hay casos en que se llega a confundir un texto redactado completamente por un humano con uno que redactó una IA. <br><br>+++

With advances in technology and the use of machine learning, we are getting closer to the old dream of an automaton that can fulfill tasks that were traditionally performed by humans. That reminds me of an old machine, from the 18th century, created by the Swiss Jaquet-Droz family, which is part of the trio of #clockwork automata, which are the greatest work of these artisans. <br><br>
The automata, of the trio I am talking about, are called: 'The musician', 'The Draughtsman' and 'The Writer'. Obviously, in today's case, it is this last automaton that has made me remember these machines. It was an automaton that could use its pen to write personalized messages, messages that were entered by a control mechanism in the #automata, and this machine proceeded to load its pen into the inkwell, wipe off the excess ink, and then write the short message on a piece of paper on his desk. He (or it) has the appearance of a child, and manages to imitate very well the movements of a human child who is learning to write his first letters. <br><br>+++

Con los avances en la tecnología y el uso del aprendizaje automático de las máquinas, cada vez estamos más cerca del viejo sueño de un autómata que pueda cumplir con tareas que tradicionalmente eran desempeñadas por humanos. Eso me hace recordar una vieja máquina, del siglo XVIII, creada por la familia suiza Jaquet-Droz, que es parte del trío de autómatas de relojería, que son la máxima obra de estos artesanos. <br><br>
Los autómatas, del trío que comento, son denominados como: ‘La Pianista’, ‘El Dibujante’ y ‘El Escritor’. Obviamente que, para el caso de hoy, es este último autómata el que me ha hecho recordar estas máquinas. Era un autómata que podía usar su pluma para escribir mensajes personalizados, mensajes que eran introducidos por un mecanismo de control en el autómata y este procedía a cargar su pluma en el tintero, limpiar el excedente de tinta, y luego escribir el mensaje corto en un papel sobre su escritorio. Tiene la apariencia de un niño, y logra imitar muy bien los movimientos propios de un niño humano que está aprendiendo a escribir sus primeras letras. <br><br>+++

Today, if we were to pair a content-creation AI with a text-printing machine, we would have a modern version of this elegant and delicate automaton, although our current machine would quite possibly look very unhuman. Anyway, I think I have said what I wanted to share, as well as to clarify that my daily log texts are my own works, written by me without the assistance of an AI. <br><br>
