Hello world, I'm glad I can write to publish today. The registration of the day is being done a little early, because the day has started with some problems in this part of Venezuela, you see, the electrical service has just returned recently, we ran home to cook, in the electric kitchen, the food for the rest of the day. I heard on the news that several regions of the country were also experiencing power failures, in fact, the capital of the republic seems to be without power (at least half of the capital city). <br><br>
Already having a deficit in public services is something every day in my #life in my country, so it loses the sense of novelty that makes it 'news', but the situation this year is getting progressively worse, and it is feared that the failure could become national in scope if it continues as it goes. That already happened to us a few years ago, and we spent little more than 2 months with the country without electricity in more than 80%... That was a disaster, in many ways. Well, these are things that I cannot solve, if it happens I will simply stop being active on the networks 'due to force majeure' and I will have to see again how to survive while it happens. Hola mundo, me alegra poder escribir para publicar hoy. El registro del día está haciéndose un poco temprano, debido a que el día ha comenzado con algunos problemas en esta parte de #Venezuela, verás, acaba de regresar el servicio eléctrico hace poco, corrimos en casa para cocinar, en la cocina eléctrica, la comida para todo el resto del día. Escuché en las noticias que varias regiones del país estaban también con fallas eléctricas, de hecho, la capital de la república parece que está sin luz (al menos la mitad de la ciudad capital). <br><br>
Ya tener déficit de servicios públicos es algo cotidiano en mi #vida en mi país, así que pierde el sentido de novedad que lo haga ‘noticia’, pero la situación en este año está agravándose progresivamente y se teme que la falla puede llegar a ser de alcance nacional si sigue como va. Ya nos pasó eso hace unos pocos años y pasamos poco más de 2 meses con el país sin electricidad en más del 80%... Eso fue un desastre, en muchos sentidos. Bien, eso son cosas que no puedo solucionar, si llega a pasar simplemente dejaré de estar activo en las redes ‘por causas de fuerza mayor’ y me tocará ver nuevamente como sobrevivir mientras ocurre. Así que mejor pasemos a cosas más alegres y alentadoras, comentemos sobre la efeméride de la #Historia para el día de hoy. <br><br>+++

Today is celebrated, since the year 2000, World Turtle Day. This is a celebration that was born from the proposal of the 'American Tortoise Rescue' (ATR), an organization created in 1990 to protect all species of land and sea turtles. It is a detail that caught my attention, learning that "World Turtle Day" is a trademark by Susan Tellem, from Malibu (California - United States), but I understood that after seeing that she and her partner, Marshall Thompson, are the ones who founded the ATR in 1990. <br><br>
The date pursues, since its creation, to make visible the importance of these #reptiles with a hard shell and slow walking. Stimulating protection actions and asking for effective legal protections against the exploitation of these species by humans. Hoy se celebra, desde el año 2000, el Día Mundial de la Tortuga. Esta es una celebración que nació de la propuesta de ‘American Tortoise Rescue’ (ATR), una organización creada en 1990 para proteger a todas las especies de tortugas terrestres y marinas. Es un detalle que me llamó la atención, enterarme de que “World Turtle Day” es una marca registrada (trademarked) por Susan Tellem, de Malibu (California – Estados Unidos), pero entendí eso luego de ver que ella y su pareja, Marshall Thompson, son los que fundaron en 1990 la ATR. <br><br>
La fecha persigue, desde su creación, visibilizar la importancia de estos #reptiles de caparazón duro y caminar lento. Estimulando acciones de protección y pidiendo protecciones legales efectivas contra la explotación de estas especies por parte de los humanos. Todo eso suena como algo bueno, al menos en líneas generales. <br><br>+++

My selection of today's anniversary has, inevitably, to do with my own memories, it happens that in my country it is quite common to find land #turtles as pets, mainly those we call Morrocoy, <i>Chelonoidis carbonaria</i> or Tortuga Red-legged Terrestrial. The Morrocoy is a member of the chelonian family that is native to America and can be found from Central America (Panama) to South America (Brazil and Paraguay), its presence in our lands since time immemorial makes it a common companion, and even in the cities one can find people who have a Morrocoy in their house. <br><br>
Others prefer small-sized turtles that they keep in a fish tank or in a terrarium, depending on the species of the particular turtle, but the Morrocoy is a pet in my father's house, and frankly I don't remember since when they have it, I have read they live a long time, so I suppose that calm animal will outlive us all and will have to be passed down to the next generation. <br><br>+++

Mi selección de la efeméride de hoy tiene, irremediablemente, que ver con mis propias memorias, sucede que en mi país es bastante frecuente encontrar como mascotas #tortugas terrestres, principalmente las que llamamos Morrocoy, <i>Chelonoidis carbonaria</i> o Tortuga Terrestre de Patas Rojas. El Morrocoy es un miembro de la familia de los quelonios que es nativo de América y se puede encontrar desde Centroamérica (Panamá) hasta Suramérica (Brasil y Paraguay), su presencia en nuestras tierras desde tiempos inmemoriales le hace un compañero común, y aun en las ciudades uno puede encontrar gente que tiene en su casa un Morrocoy. <br><br>
Otros prefieren tortugas de pequeño tamaño que tienen en una pecera o en un terrario, según sea la especie de la tortuga en particular, pero el Morrocoy es una mascota en la casa de mi padre, y francamente no recuerdo desde cuando la tienen, He leído que viven mucho, así que supongo que ese calmado animal va a sobrevivirnos a todos y se tendrá que heredar su cuidado a la siguiente generación. <br><br>+++

Yo encontraba raro en un inicio el tener una #tortuga como #mascota, pues no es un guardián, no combate ratones ni espanta alimañas, no es de pelaje suave para acariciar, en fin, que no es mi tipo de mascota, pero resulta que el #morrocoy tiene bastante personalidad y un cierto encanto, luego de un tiempo se le toma bastante cariño y pasa a ser uno más de la familia. <br><br>
Bien, creo que mejor paso a publicar, acabo de sentir un salto en la corriente eléctrica y eso es mala señal. Te deseo que tú estés bien y que nos podamos leer de nuevo en otra oportunidad. <br><br>+++
