How to feel stupid in 3 moves
A couple of times now I have come across the Hive chess people's posts, and seems there is a pretty big tournament that they run since way back when we pretended Steem was awesome.

If you like visit HiveChess as for me I was wondering what app it is that they were using. I remember over the years installing and uninstalling a couple so it would be nice to find something I can kinda just keep.

Turns out I have used the app before, 9 years ago. Libre Chess or Lichess.org and they have certainly made it a lot nicer. It works in the browser and on mobile from playstore and ontop of that anyone can host their own version since it is completely open source.

9 Years of failure

So the last week I have played a game or two each day and pretty much just lost all of them. I thought ok maybe this is old age, so checked my old games I played and it seems I was just born a chess loser. Out of the 88 games I have played I have only won 6.

I guess it can't really get worse?

A 7% win rate is definitely pathetic but pathetic is as great a start as anything. The biggest thing I predict that will irritate me though is having to learn the opening so I can get past all the copy paste bullshit. I think I have a strong inclination to try and not open the same ever and it definitely bugs me that others constantly put the same stupid pawn out first.

Then a big thing I constantly fail at is to consider what they want to do next, I tend to not really care and I will bulldoze regardless of what they are doing. I did that in a couple of games earlier where I would just feed pieces because they pissed me off by constantly backing up their pawns in the middle.

So watching out for my fuckit moments is a good idea.

Overrall though I like the Rapid 10minute mode, it is fast enough to not be a drag but slow enough not to lose track of what is going on.

I played a couple of bullet ones, which was pretty disorientating once I realized what the timer was for.

By the looks of it though you get quite a few points for winning and don't lose so much when you do lose so I guess a mediocre player can easily hit about 1500 - 2000.

So my next goal is to become mediocre player.
