>"If you get covid arse cancer it is very hard to not be arsed anymore." Just a random quote from my blabbering at work. It was a pretty quiet day, aka I looked very busy at doing nothing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NEwx4rC6VBw I like using these youtube videos, not just for the beats but because it saves on searching for a cover image. It could be a video with white noise for all I care. That seems racist now that I think about it... Any uptight spoonhumpers want to comment? Speaking of covid, there is some cool news making the rounds. Omicron acting like a vaccine in itself? Mandates being lifted? Australia still being the inbred country it has always been. That last one is a fact, not a question. It is my truth so you know there is no argument right. So much for the twitter news, and hence the introduction quote. Things can get wonky when you ramble about all these supposedly serious things in the manner which they ought to be. In other twitter news. Jeez is this a twitter post? I dunno, let us see. Ready. Steady. Twitter release some kind of "verified" NFT avatar feature with a fancy hexagon shape to display yet another generative image. Now I guess all good for them but really making it some kind of bullshit status object is beyond stupid seeing as it is a paid service and even though it is a "verified" profile feature specifically designed not for the crypto, or NFT enthusiast but for the fashionable toe sucking cradle dweller, it does not take into account the actual authenticity of the said NFT asset. The NFT space in itself and namesake also has a huge identity problem, or bias issue very similar to a government form that ask are you: Black, White or Other? NFT projects and users need to start by fixing their vocabulary in applying the proper taxonomies to things. An avatar is NFT Art. This differentiation is required to teach people and help with the obvious generalization of the entire space. Then again people are ALL trash, except some who are not... Anyway, let them have their fun. Twitter did not have a bad idea they just have the absolute worst implementation. Fortunately there are projects like OpenId and I forget the other that actually attempt to use NFT as NFT and not get bogged down by scraping the barrel of use cases just to come up with "Oh look a pretty picture and I can see who owned it before me..." It has been done, pretty sure this is all 3 years ago but on steroids. People say tech moves fast but the fact that Twitter and the majority still look to Ethereum for everything and propagate the idea that NFT is somehow inherently ETH or POW. Even more dangerous is the idea that all these things are truly decentralized, immutable, sure, decentralized... Well, I guess to a point. Nothing is capable to control humans in that fashion, not even humans. We are the better ones to try though, with a little help from our friends called automation and governance. All that does is make any talk of regulation breakdown and if the apps like Twitters little avatar thingy do not enforce the core aspect of NFT'S which is the ability to determine authenticity in a user-friendly manner and instead just build a thing designed to make a quick buck then, of course, those who are outside of the space will think they are right for all the most stupid reasons. Again that is more of a NFT Art problem since game assets and assets tied to utility and or applications tend to be governed from the get-go. Splinterlands cards get issued by splinterlands. These centralized entities create their sphere in the decentralized space, verification and authenticity is baked in from that point. For Artists, Musicians and I guess they can be called free agents they are attempting to find a place that gives them that control. This starts with profiles on OpenSea for example - which is a horrid place and provides absolutely no innovation - but regardless it is what they have. There are other markets, and definitely, ones that are not on ETH but although I hate the ETH ecosystem they do have better implementation than the majority not to mention the simp following. No, I do not like WAX, they need to fix their shit. So the main issue I see is just that it is so very hard to get a unified interoperability spec for these things. Hive faces the same issue, when it comes to interfaces which you can check out in @lordbutterfly's post. The more we have free-agent situations which is the main driving force of blockchain adoption the more we need centralized specifications. Well I guess people in blockchain will come up with fancy words like, governance? DAO? I don't really care how they do it I am just saying that it is required. Most implementing the ERC721 and ERC720 (I think it is) spec are already doing that, which is why we have Polygon, BSC, Solana and you get things like IBC which is the only good thing ATOM has ever done. Polkadot can go jump off a cliff. Anyway, there are many specifications for implementing and operating cross-chain but there are very few if any that then tackle the user experience and delivery of verified data. I would say that covers, things like being able to verify that Art is from the said artist at a glance. Now obviously I am condensing a lot, and it is extremely difficult to do these things and will take time. If you don't think it is difficult to prove authenticity and implement a simple system around that which all end-user applications can use then try finding a reliable high volume, accurate and FREE plagiarism detection tool. I will wait. Because in a way every post we make, and every iteration thereof is an NFT, so a lot of their issues are ours... if you reach a little.
