I have been using photoshop for a few years now. Which automatically means I have to know what I am doing, and pretty much just be a pro at it. With that in mind:

<li>My wiping technique is flawless.</li>
<li>I know every word in the English language. I choose to replace most with Fuck. </li>

A customer today asked if I could quickly make a thing that has the words "Ice Ice Coffee" written on it...

Yeah that was it, and she added nothing too fancy just quick. So fair game I have legit permission to slap text on top of a background-image and call it a day. 

I went for a smoke break to ponder my dilemma. Since slapping text on a background is something I feel superior to. Just like I feel superior over anyone who is sleeping. Bad move.

Finishing my smoke I decided to make actual ice text which I determined would take me right to closing time. Completely avoiding the other tedious collage and image repair trash I had to do because it would be closing time. Perfect. 

Because I am an "Uber Pro Photoshop Guru Man" I decided to follow a tutorial instead of fiddling with the layer styles myself to get the lighting right and stuffs. Boom first proper result is from psdtuts+ which is a great network for anything from design to web development. 

Recent years though I have not used them at all and especially since I started learning more web I found that they cater more to the hip and trending over foundational tutorials. 

Lucky with Photoshop and specifically effects and manipulations hip and trending means shit and the tutorials are mostly ageless.

<h1>You already showed the result</h1>

Hey! Hey you! Whose post is this? 

I thought so. Now sit down. 

...Now the main thing I like about text effects and such is simplicity and re-usability. Could I set up an action easily to apply the effect to the text? Does it work on different font types and what background image limitations are there?

In the spirit of wasting time to get to the end of the day, I present the Frozen Collection. Not the super hot singing kind but the boring, anti-sex, I learnt something today kind.

If the translucency make the text fade then choose a main colour to be present and go more solid. I completely forgot what I wanted to say. But now that I think of it, people tend to think a tutorial is a silver bullet. Really irritating and about to be stabbed people will even go so far as to reprimand those who tried to show them how by saying they are stupid. Fair enough when you can't get it to work and then figure out a method that is better and works then go back and call them stupid. 

<h1>This is not a tutorial</h1>

We don't read error messages and we sure as hell do not accept that there is not only one way to do something. I am very impatient when it comes to computers and yet I am very patient with people - mostly - I understand that they are broken and do not know better, that they are inferior in their thinking that things are done only in one way. 

Before this gets away from me. 

So this is not a tutorial, and even following the tutorial linked above I had to compensate with new textures and lighting depending on the context I required. The nice thing is if I do this about 3 more times when some twat asks for something ice then I got that shit on the backburner.
