it is metabolized in liver by glutathion so , should not be given to acute or chronic liver patients.

N-acetyl-p-benzoquinone imine (NAPQI)  is the substace which is responsible for toxicity.

Toxicity increases with other drugs like anti seizures (carbamazibine,phenytoin)
